Today we woke up to mountain views at our Swiss Hostel, and after a late breakfast hauled our luggage down to the local train station. To pass an idle hour we decided to sample rosti and local sausage while taking in our last look at the majesty of the mountains. We then set off to catch the first of three trains for Lausanne. Finding the seats very comfortable I again settled into a deep sleep, the silent and gentle rhythm providing a soothing back ground.

Our accommodation in Lausanne was again a youth hostel, being very well run, clean and comfortable. Leaving our rooms after a quick freshen up it was time to walk by Lake Geneva and take in the cool blue tones of the water and the distant mountains. The local cathedral built many centuries ago was a great place to look out over the city, we walked up stone staircases and admired roman ruins that litter the various landmarks.

Dinner tonight was mexican and we sampled a glass of red sangria. The meals and drinks were delicious. After a journey on the automated metro service, it was back to the hostel for a hot cup of tea, fruit and chocolate consumed on a bench outside our rooms. The nightly LAN party was indoors in the communal meeting area. We had plenty of fellow guests to provide a continual background hum of comversation.

Wow
Stunning scenery Deb - the lake and mountains are just breathtaking. And I love that you stay in youth hostels - travel does not have to be expensive and certainly youth hostels offer a wonderful perspective and opportunity!
