The Book of Acts provides examples of the gospel message being taken into new territories. Luke's record of the first converts in various towns helps us to appreciate how the Lord keeps his promise of Matthew 7:7, 8. God's power is at work when seeking souls find opportunity to learn the truth. And the Reader of men's hearts is still at work today.

Back in mid-October last year, a man named Eliya heard our radio annoucement. He desired to attend the Bible classes. On one particular class day, by the time he found his way to the assembly place, the class had already concluded. He had traveled from the village of Tanangozi, which is about a 40 minute drive (depending on the road construction delays).

Contact with Eliya led to setting up a class in that village. Carey and Charles have been having classes in Tanangozi since last year. Over the past few months various people have been sporatic in their attendance. However, mama Judy has been consistently learning. Even during the time Charles and I have been having classes with a school teacher in Tanangozi, mama Judy has attended those classes also. Over the past couple of weeks she has been pondering her condition and the cost of discipleship.

Yesterday when Charles and Carey began their class, she said she wanted to be baptized. Carey called me with the good news - so we loaded up some Christians and headed off to meet them. What a joy to hear mama Judy's good confession and to witness her new birth into Christ (John 3:3-5; Galatians 3:26, 27).

Last week we spent two days distributing fliers in Tanangozi. Permission has been granted for us to use a school room for the planned classes. Many Iringa Christians, and our visitors from America, helped with the canvassing along foot paths and back ways. Essentially the whole village has been invited. It is our prayer that mama Judy is the firstfruit of a great harvest to follow.
