Malvern to Evesham

This route is marked one way, because I typically just return on the same route. Total distance works out around 46+ miles (assuming no mistakes on my part).

Had a great training session today. Left home at 07:30 on a lovely sunny (albeit a tad cold at 1C) Sunday and headed to Powick and then picked up the National Cycle Network 442 from Worcester, through Pershore and on to Evesham. This was a straight "There and Back Again" route which saw be return on exactly the same route.

I'll drop a couple of photos on later, although I didn't stop long enough or often enough to take many. There were loads of fellow cyclists out, especially around Evesham, which is testament to the great weather we had this weekend.

All told this was a 47'ish miler which took about 3+ hours with a couple of leg aching hills enroute. This is a lovely part of England and has some stunning views back over the Malverns and some lovely quiet villages to cycle through. The back country lanes that make up NCN442 make this a truly enjoyable route and one that should appeal to all cyclists. There are a few hills (one or two relatively tough ones) but on the whole it's a rolling route through fairly gentle countryside.

I pushed this one hard and managed to burn upwards of 2700Kcal, which is adding to my other goal of improving my overall fitness. Only 10 weeks to go before the big ride, so gotta keep things moving.

Tomorrow morning will see me in teh gym early with my personal trainer. I'm expecting a Matrix session which will be fun, in a sick, sadistic kinda way :-) Still it's all for a good cause, the children supported by Rugute are the ones who suffer, my aches and pains when I train and cycle are nothing compared to what they go through.

To all you fellow cyclists out there : "Keep those pedals turning". To all those wanna be cyclists : "Get in the saddle and give it a go. It's the best move I made." When I passed 38 yrs young I was over weight and completely unfit (and hadn't been on a bike in nearly 20 years!!). I pass 40 in 6 months and I am over 2 stone lighter, in the best shape of my life so far and I owe alot of that to cycling and alot to my great personal trainer Greg Taylor. If I pass 40 in better shape then when I hit 30, just think what I can achieve by the time I'm 50!!

More to follow......

Gee... I didn't know it requires so much.
Hi John, this is something. Well, have to follow your training to be able at least to see you something in a mile range or around that. :-D Nice to be following you. Have a great and addictive training! ;-) Vitas
