"Times flies when you're having fun, but frogs know times are fun when you're having flies!"

It's hard to believe how fast 2 weeks fly by when you're having fun. Yet though I say that, we enjoyed each and every one of those days with a peaceful laid-back feeling. (finally a serious blog right; none of my antics here, you'll have to read my other blogs for that)

Our accommodations were great being oceanfront with a pool. And the staff helped to make it one of our best holidays ever. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean, shell collecting, reading by the pool, eating delicious food, sipping pina colodas & margs, and sunrises and sunsets. Nights were fun on bustling 5th avenue or on the beach listening to music.

Vacationing with a big group can be tricky; however, everyone was very respectful of each other, and we all agree we had a fabulous time with many laughs and shared moments. The girls thoroughly enjoyed spending every minute with their grandparents. I feel very blessed that Al and I have healthy, willing and involved parents who can come with us on a tropical vacation and share the adventure with us. (And many thanks to Ray for graciously & willingly putting on every hat we threw your way!!!) As the Irish proverb goes, "When I count my blessings, I count you twice". And we do. We hope our kids still like us enough to bring us along on their trip years from now. And with their grandparents in tow too!

The last few days here we've enjoyed great weather. The ocean has been eerily calm; some mornings it looks like glass and the appearance of one huge inviting swimming pool. And on our last night here the moon put on a show when it glistened off the ocean giving us an unforgetable picture to place in our memory bank. We had a lovely light dinner on the town with all of us together. The waiter thought Al & his Dad would look particularly good in his oversized sunglasses (which they did) and the girls had a great laugh over that. We spent the evening doing some last minute shopping for souvenirs and for items we had our eye on. There are endless speciality items to buy here; from the jewellrey, to the arts and crafts, hammocks, lights, candles, clothes, shoes, hats and so forth.

Tuesday we were set to fly home however late Monday a great opportunity for Al and I to stay till Friday presented itself, and we took it. We've never done anything spontaneous like this before, but when things fell into place for us to stay an extra 3 nights we didn't question it. When here in Playa on our honeymoon (2008), Ava & Rory got ear & throat infections, so that put a damper on things. We plan on looking at these extra days as Part 2 of our belated honeymoon! This will be the first time we are here just on our own -well we are with Ava & Rory, Lara went home with nanna & Martha as she has play rehearsals. (however we agree it's more fun with family & friends)

The cost of our extra 3 nights is reasonable thanks to Tonya of Playa Beach Condos and Westjet return flights had dropped so it all came together nicely. We had to pack up and move to another condo, still oceanfront and only two blocks away. Holy crap batman we had a lot of stuff - only 2 blocks away but with 4 suitcases, 5 backpacks, groceries, surf boards, beer, wine...we needed a dang van to get here. Luckily it only cost us 50 pesos - $4 CDN so it was all good.

This place is spectacular; huge, modern, luxurious, and beautifully decorated. We have a 4-piece wicker patio set on our balcony on the 3rd floor with great views of the ocean and the beach bars all set in the busy hubbub. Will send more info later (Mom!!)

Added some pics of the last day or so. Hopefull you will get this notice finally and travel blog has fixed its problems. You can click on the top, "next entry" or "previous entry" in red to see all the entries.

Starting to miss home & our friends! (anyone...anyone miss us??? sniff sniff)

PS sun's out and it's hot with a slight breeze. We're sitting on our balcony with toast and Starbucks coffee. Seeing the boats go out, and the beach come alive. The lifeguards line up every morning and do one swim out in the ocean in formation before their shift starts. It's amazing to see what powerful swimmers they are. Almost as strong as Al...almost 😉

Sal (can one of you kind folks let me know if you got this? Having so much trouble sending blogs) xo
