Mmmmmm...condeeeensed miiiilk
Homer Simpson would love these... Actually the internet here is very cheap and we've a few hours to kill before our bus to Kanchanaburi...we had a little wander 'round Banglamphu. It's an amazingly active commercial district that's completely mind-boggling.
The Thais all buy their breakfasts and snacks (in Thai
gin len or "eating for fun" !) at little roadside stalls. We eschewed the ubiquitous and rather boring hotel breakfasts for some more traditional fare. I had a sandwich made from slices of buttered brioche, dipped on one side in sugar and grilled over coals, then slathered in condensed milk (swoon) and sandwiched together. It was amazingly delicious and cost 15B (or about 20 pence !)...Alex had little deep fried parcels filled with coconut goo...also delicious. Washed down with
nam som mandarin juice. If only all this was available in London...sigh...

Although can't say i envy the lengthy, noisy coach journeys. Take care on your adventures and i'll carry on reading avidly. lots of love, Suzanne xx
