Edit Blog Post

well, re-reading my last travelblog, i realized maybe i should lay low on my little dreams. they're always gong to be with me, therefore there is no need to pro-create endless theories. so apologies (well, mild apologies) for my rants.
now, here's the plan. i'm heading over to italy tomorrow. finally, florence. i have been dreaming with my eyes open and closed about italy, a country whose language and culture i have been studying for the past few years. it always felt awkward to sit in a classroom with people that had studied abroad; it was a competition i knew i would lose eventually, but i held on to my romance roots, as means to pass the class 😊
so florence. gracie, here i come. i cannot wait to walk the walk and talk the talk. finally. furthermore, i have decided, by god' grace 😊, to stay in italy from september to may. it'll be best for me and my intellect. whatever job i find, i will be pleased to practice my language, and live in a european setting. man, do my plans change. tim, you're probably one of the few that have heard me change my mind million of times.

sorry. i won't say this italy thing is solid, just because i am still waiting to hear from conde' nast publishing company in new york. if i get one of the job i applied for, i might just have to accept the ny challenge.

other than that, today was swell. very relaxing. slept til i dropped, after a nightful of childhood stories, visinata (except for john and my romanian buddies, "visinata" is a vewy-vewy good sour cherry drink, much like sherry) and......VIDEOS. my mom presented me with a handful of tapes from when i was ten, thus i couldn't help watch them, along with the girls, of course. and it was madness. if i have the guts to show 'em to you all, someday, i will. a hint: in one of the videos, i was dressed to kill, in tapered jeans and a cowboy shirt, with my hair mullet-ed, dancing michael-jackson style (or so i thought.) oh man, it couldn've gotten any better than that.

looks like i am geting used to not working. i believe i mentioned to tim i was afraid i wouldn't be able to simply relax, forget i have tons of stuff to do back in the country. i am so used to (probably like most of us) working all the time, running around to get things together, that vacationing became something almost out of my league. three weeks, this is how long it took me to really absorb the latent state of mind most romanians experience. and boy, IT IS GOOD. i walk around, go to the market, eat a lot (yes, i am gaining weight, but who cares?!), and next time i will certainly try to describe the heavenly food eaten here. after all, this is what binds all of us together, right?!

ps: tim, sorry i haven't been writing back. i'm trying to keep this blog together, and my gmail is sorta-kinda weird. but do write about the restaurant, i am thoroughly interested.

hey Dana! forgive me for not getting back to you sooner but i've been out of town - away from keyboards, intels, emails, the blah of TV, and all other forms of city life ruthlessly encroaching on the liberty of the individual:) what's the story with italy? when exactly are you heading for florence? how long are you staying in romania/europe? i'm actually getting involved with a new company in about 2 weeks' time so summer vacation this year seems unlikely - until then i've got all the time in the world to make your stay in krakow worthwhile. you're ALWAYS welcome here, and my or magda's not being around does not mean you can not stay in our flat and EXPLORE the city cafes museums shops restaurants on your own... whatever happens i guess i'd recommend flying - with deregulated air travel in eastern europe now, and a little bit of luck you could get a return flight to krakow for the price of a double cappucino at some flashy italian cafe, unless of course you're into epic train journeys:) i'll keep my fingers crossed for your ny career plans - judging from the quality of your writing a job in the the publishing business is yours for the asking.... cheers b.
