Hello,

I just wrote all this and the computer crashed so fingers crossed it doesn't this time.

The first week has flown by with Spanish School and seeing the city. I have spent most of my mornings exploring and studying and all my afternoons occupied by Spanish School.

The Spanish is going well but everything I can say is in the present tense which is limiting somewhat. It is nice to have Tyler, the American, in the house as I can pick up on his and Tina's conversations though I may just be getting better at reading hand gestures.

I have started attending Yoga classes in the mornings which are painful but relaxing. They take place in a very swanky hotel.

I am also having private Salsa lessons. My teacher, Nancy, informs me that she is a Guatemalan champion. She teaches LA style which is more linear then Cuban but it is not all that different. I spent an hour spinning around and left noticibly sweaty and dizzy! It is less than $10 per lesson!

I spent yesterday visiting Galleries and museums and today I went to a coffee plantation which was really interesting. Guatemela exports 85% of its good coffee so I doubt that it is good coffee that I am getting in most of the cafes.

Tyler and I have decided to go to Lake Attilan for xmas. We have found a nice Eco hotel to stay at for a couple of nights. I did not want to impose on Tina that weekend and the school is closed so might as well get away.

I am hoping to climb a Volcano over the next week, though maybe not the one that is smoking today, and try to visit the hospital. Otherwise my week is filled with Yoga, Salsa and Spanish.

Everyone has been really friendly here and welcoming. I am really enjoying my time here and sadly it will be over all to soon.

Hope you are all well,

Love Clare xxx

Love your pictures
Great to hear you're enjoying yourself and have met some good people. Good on you for learning Spanish, something I would struggle with. The dancing sounds like a work out but great fun. Climbing the volcano will be exciting but a little dangerous, take care. XXX
