Manic driving in HCMC
My bike and I... and Briony! :) That's right ladies and gentlemen... that is what I am right now - a Money MACHINE!!!
Forget everything I said about having a sweet, laid back life in Vietnam!!! I have a new job! I left ILA and have started teaching at a bilingual kindergarten! It's absollutely great! I don't teach many hours but my timetable is 40 hours a week (9-5), so I get paid to plan (something not included at ILA) and I'm teaching adoreable 4-5 year olds! I'm also getting paid more at this new school which, is always, welcomed! On top of that I have been tutoring my 2 Korean boys 3 nights a week and I've also taken on one 2 hour class on Saturday and Sunday morning! That's right - the girl who can't wait to be retired is working a shit-load of hours! 😊 The money will be good, and I say will be because I havent actually seen any of it yet! When I do however I will be rolling in it! Muahahahahahahaha :D
We have also got a new little kitten! Seeing as you haven't even seen pictures of my first kitten this may not mean much to you but
Chinh - cat number 1
My little pumpkin!!! I love this cat to pieces. He's such a good companion and always wants to sit near me. H's a sweetie! Chinh (kitten number 1) is now humungous and Oscar (kitten number 2) is suuuuuper tiny! After a tetchy start, they arenow best of friends, although Chinh is a very well behaved cat and Oscar is bloody far from it! He's a pain in the a*se! Doen't stop miaowing... but he wins us over every time because he's so cute!
Its now the rainy season over here so I drive around on my motorbike (OHMYGOD! Completely forgotten to tell you that I have a brand new black and silver sweet ass motorbike!) with my bin liner raincoat in my bag and I try to dodge it as much as possible. It's actually pouring down with rain at the moment and has been for 3 hours!
Yeah so I bought a new motorbike, which I thought was impossible to do as foreigners can't own anything in Vietnam but Yamaha did me a sweet deal and registered the bike in the company's name and even let me pay in 2 instalments - quite a novelty for Nam! 😊 It's the first thing that I've actually owned and paid for myself. I mean it's the first major thing I've bought, you know, like
Briony and Kate
My housemate (for nearly 2 months now) and Kate the fellow travelblogger! Briony's great and we've been getting on really well! a car, an apartment or in my case a motorbike! By the way, mother and father are unaware of this and I would prefer to protect their naiveity so please....
So I think that's all the important news. I haven't had much time to faff around and have fun recently. I have had my hair cut and have a lovely fringe again which I'm happy about and PORTUGAL play tomorrow morning at 2 am!! Wohooo! Hooray for the world cup and watching matches in the early morning before work! Rock on!!! Oh yeah actually I've met up with 2 different travelbloggers that got in touch with me after reading my blog Kate and Stan (chck ou their blogs here - www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/KateHildebrand/ and www.travelblog.org/Bloggers/Stanley) which was pretty fun! Went to the famous Ba Hoi with both of them on seperate ocassions and had a great time with both of them! 😊
In October Rita and friends will be coming over to see me and then in December I'll e returning to Portugal for Crimbo! Hopefully returning to Ho Chi Minh after a stop in the UK to visit old friends so looking forward to that too!
Hope everyone
Me downing a pint!

Still have no camera - pictures courtesy of Kate, Stanley ad good old Briony! Will post pics of new kitty as of when we get some!

Rooj xxx
