"Every dream is given to us with the power to make it come true" - Kinga Freespirit

The first time I "planned my route" around the world, I was 17 years old. It has always been a dream of mine. Now, 17 years (and a 10 year old son) later, my itinerary is finally final!!! As most of you know, my life has been crazy the past six months - a flood, a fire, homelessness and a robbery. I wouldn't change any of it - no regrets. Everything really always does happen for a reason, and now my dreams are coming true. I am finally going around the world, and I'm taking my favorite person with me - my son Jordan. And like always - I'm taking the long way.

My itinerary:

August 23 Leave for South Africa and fly via Germany. Five day layover Germany.
Head to the mountains, spend a couple days in the Bavarian Alps.

August 29 Fly into Johannesburg. Travel overland through South Africa, Namibia
Botswana, Zambia (Victoria Falls) - take a two day train from Zambia
over to Tanzania, spend a week on the island of zanzibar, head back
over to the mainland and safari up to Nairobi.

November 8 Fly to Kathmandu, Nepal

December 8 Fly to Myanmar (Burma)

December 23 Fly to Bangkok. Spend the next three months travelling Thailand, Laos,
Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia.

March 15 Fly to Southern India

April 20 Fly to Morocco. Overland to Spain

May 17 Fly to Italy, take a boat over to Greece and stay until we want to fly
home!!!

"Sometimes few places are more dangerous than home. So fear not to try the mountain passes, they will save you from deadly apathy and set you free."

Your fascinating travels
Hi Heide, I may have met you once many years ago, I'm Holly's aunt on her father's side, and I'm utterly captured by fine sense of adventure - it's something that I would have done, had I thought of it when I was oh-so-much younger. Even now, I would love to fly over and meet you in one of your exotic destinations for a short stay (if you would allow me) - Unfortunately, my husband is currently in home-care, and I don't know if I could leave him - it's too early to tell. My nephew (from my other brother) has just moved from Bankok to Shanghai - bummer, that would have been a great opportunity. I'm especially entranced with the early part of your itenerary. What a wonderful education and experience your providing for Jordan - he's a very fortunate boy to have a mom with your spirit. Good luck, Hugs and happy wishes to you and Jordan, Tania Batten (nee Hurmuses) Re: Taking the long way.......

In the beginning
August 24th 2006 ...was exhaustion, excitement and maybe a little bit of culture shock. Thinking about you two and look forward to hearing your adventures. Annika, Zach and Aniela Re: Taking the long way....... SENT spam | delete | send on
