Qatar Airport

Tired after an eight hour flight only to arrive in the epicenter of travelers hell. How many rings in Dantie's Inferno? I think I am in the one with the stinging bees. Fighting a sea of humanity to find a place to sit turned into a game of duck duck goose. It took 20 mins and eight laps just to find a space to sit on the floor next to the ladies room. I have a woman sleeping beside me and a man standing next to me. The line for the woman's bathroom looks to be about 40 mins long. I am exhasted, now I just have to stay awake until my flight boards, another hour and twenty mins. My knee is killing me but I can't move because to do so would disrupt the steady flow of people circling looking for a place to sit. Oh my god I am starting to recognize them. I have been here too long. This place makes Miami International Airport at Christmas look tame. Thank God I don't have to do this every day, I am not strong enough. All I want to do is sleep....need to stay awake! 37° C on landing was a shock to the system after the cold of African fall nights and the frigid plane. Not prepared for the heat and humidity, it hits me like a wall, still wearing my polar fleece safari jacket. Just need to make it through the next 24 hours or so..... It is a crazy mix of people, truly international...Indian, African, Asian, European, American. I don't recall having ever seen such an even distrobution of races...interesting. Just writing at this point to stay awake. I wonder what my friends are doing. It's 11 PM on a Saturday night and my guess is that everyone is having a better time than me. I miss my friends. I hate being alone. How am I going to stay awake in Milan for 6+ hours waiting for Frankie? Maybe I will get a hotel room? Great as if it couldn't get worse now there is a symphany of screaming children..........I AM IN HELL! How I would love to scream right now. OK, let's get together you can get through this. Maybe I use the time to write the 30 + journal entries I am behind, only I am too tired to remember anything. OK, this is it, I am seriously going to kill that brat! Oh my GOD stop screaming! ..... Thank you Allah the kid finally shut up. 50 mins left. Next time I travel with an alarm on a watch I know how to use so I am not so paranoid about falling asleep and missing my flight.

Be Strong
K- Be strong. You are on an adventure. Things are supposed to be interesting and challenging. You are experienceing things that most of us will never know. Relish in the variety of the people and the area. Savor the culture. And ... sleep, breathe and eat. Live, love, laugh. Enjoy.
