We have been having a pretty amazing time, sorry we haven't been adding to this very often...it costs money and it is not always available.
Egypt and the Nile was a blast. We spent some time in Alexandria and Ed was able to take photos of the area where his parents had lived. I think that his Mum will see lots of changes. Alexandria was beautiful as long as you stayed on the seafront. Our trip on an overnight train to Luxor revealed the true poverty of the place. Farms with no signs of modern technology apart from tv satellite dishes and men riding donkeys or camels using their mobile phones.
The cruise on the Nile was stunning. 4 nights on an aging beauty named the Nile Ritz. Generally good company and masses of food. We ate far too much and lounged around the pool when we weren't off seeing tombs and monuments.
After the cruise we stayed at a great hotel on a small island in the Nile. It had a swimming pool the size of a small soccer field. From there we visited a Nubian village and ate some of their garlic encrusted food...yum!!

Now we are working and eating our way through the Greek Isalnds. Athens wasn't as bad as we had anticipated and we ate well in the Plaka surrounded by lots of American tourists.
WE loved Folegandros which is a very small unspoilt island that we chose randomly...had a lovely time there in a beautiful new hotel and ate lots of seafood. Santorini came as a shock after the quiet of Folegandros but the view from our hotel room and the restaurants we went to helped us to grow to love it. Took lots of photos especially of the famous sunset and spent quite a bit of money in the boutiques there.

Now we are in Crete trying to find a little bit of old Crete...not so easy...masses of German tourists and tavernas. We are heading off to a small village Loutro which you can only access via a small boat so hopefully that will be less developed.

Hope you are all well. Apologies for no photos...just too much of a hassle. You'll be pleased to know that the weather has been a constant 28 and today is the first day we have seen clouds. We are not looking forward to the cold when we return. It will be great to catch up with you all though.

With love Ed and Heather

keep ed away from those boutiques ! you know what he’s like when he gets a glimpse of lace or crimpelene. Guess you we be coming back looking like refugees from the east, with brown leathery skins…. Well suffer… it’s 6° degrees here this morning. Anyhow, as long as youv’e got lots of luverly picies of scantily clad bods on beaches, we’ll put up with you. You have a luverly time now and we’ll see you after the 13th. Steve xxxx
