We negotiated the Montenegrin border without problems, just queues.
I had managed to contact a friend who lives in Herceg Novi just over the border. Well it turns out she lives on the tip of the peninsular opposite (but its still called Herceg Novi) and we virtually invited ourselves to visit them! After all they were pivotal in our decision to travel as they themselves had sailed around the world, which inspired us to do this trip. We drove around Kotor bay, it was absolutely stunning. We had a swim at Perast, beautiful clear water. Then with amazing instructions we navigated to Fiona and Dave’s house, and appreciated a very warm welcome from them and their 3 dogs. It was lovely to stop in such a lovely place and have a bed for the night.
The following day we were invited to go across the bay in their rib, we were to meet their friends who were flying in. We had a great trip thundering across the bay and Kim thoroughly enjoyed his chance to drive the rib. Even got to see a WW2 submarine pen.
Back on their local beach we swam and relaxed. We were so lucky to have Fiona and Dave’s help in planning our route to northern Montenegro, local knowledge is really valuable as there are few campsites and little information available. Spent a delightful evening with their friends in a lovely house that Fiona & Dave had had built, felt thoroughly spoilt before we head north into unknown territory!
