We have made it to Queenstown (QT)!!!!

It was quite a long trip from Christchurch to QT on the coach today but very bearable. The scenery was slightly disappointing, since there has been NO snow on the mountains. Brown mountains did get a bit boring after awhile!!! However, we did see plenty of merino sheep, pigs, cattle, vineyards, bee hives and even a salmon farm.

We didn't spend much time in Christchurch and haven't explored the city (or what's left of it) yet. Partly due to the fact our accommodation was nearer the airport and also because Alex caused mayhem at customs! Both in Australia and here! Not to mention standing in the NZ/AU passport queue when he is a UK passport holder! Anyway, after sucking up they finally let him out of Australia and into NZ.

We've had great food so far. Including a sweet pizza of banana, chocolate, berries and custard last night! Oh YUMMMMMM! We got it delivered to our motel because we were stuffed from standing in queues and navigating our way around a strange land. When I took delivery of the pizzas I needed 50c change. I was expected a dodecagon shaped coin. However, it ended up being a round coin slightly bigger than an AU 10c. Ripped off!

The food on the flight was also great! Although, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the wine. Tonight, we have just polished off some thai. Yet to try the Otago wines though.

Back in QT, our suite is very nice, with a balcony and water view. We have all our skis and clothing sorted. Ready to head up to the slopes at 7.55am. It is very unlikely night skiing will go ahead do to the lack of snow, which is very disappointing. But, it means we will now have 2 full days in QT and there is definitely not a lack of things to do!

We better head off now. Do some grocery shopping, have a drink and get some sleep. Unfortunately there is no such thing as free internet. But $3/hour is pretty good, so will try and write again soon. Hope all is well back in Australia. And keep your fingers crossed for snow! We need it.

Way to go!
Good to hear you got to QT safely. Sounds like the food will make up for the lack of snow. :-)

Snow
You must have missed out on the big snow fall they had in Queenstown. They had their biggest snow fall in 50 odds years in August. http://www.holidaysqueenstown.co.nz
