HEY ALL!!! so here i am, safe and sound. i'm glad you all were able to get access to the blog and are enjoying it so far! if you know neone i've missed that would like it let me know so i can add them in! Athens is beautiful (i like rome better, but hey- what can u expect from an italian?) the acropolis was AMAZING, so crazy that it was built something like 3000 yrs ago! WOAH!! so neway, i'll start @ the beginning. our flight took off @ 5:30ish our time (i dunno where u got 8 from PD) BUT i missed it cuz i was already asleep- i guess that's too be expected when u're too nervous/anxious/excited to sleep the night before (of course i was anxious, i was leaving my bear behind- it's a first- but i think mom n dad needed it more... maybe)... so we got in around 9:30 am here which is about 3:30am there, so we're SEVEN hrs ahead of u folks back home in new england (this piece of information will come in handy later). so we get in, check into the hotel- nice, of course, UJ picked it out- and take showers. then we headed out, grabbed a quick european lunch (only about an hr n a half- which is VERY quick in EURO standards) n headed off for the acropolis- talk about a hardcore first day. we took the back route up- aka the insanely long, rocky, slippery stones with flip flops on route. it was a BLAST- i loved it, n the view was spectacular. the walk home on the other hand- not so spectacular (just FYI athens is like san francisco, VERY steep hills EVERYWHERE), however we stopped and ate greek salads which i loved- first time i've loved tomatoes since italy- they're just sweeter here. so we walk back and take a nap n go out for a quazi early dinner in euro standards- 10:30pm- midnight! it worked for those of us still on jet lag, how they do it every night is BEYOND me. so we had dinner, and APPARENTLY shrimp have FACES, i almost threw up on my plate... but UD saved the day and i got over it (kinda since i'm still shuddering thinking about it). after dinner we headed back to the hotel with a plan to head out around 7am to figure out phone stuff n then take a bus outside of town to a cool ruin with UD calling me a half hr before expected departure. I woke up around 9am to my alarm, upon looking @ it i think "shoot, i set it wrong" n threw it back on the table n fell asleep... i get a phone call @ 11:30am "sara! i JUST woke up, i'm SO sorry" - i laughed for a good five minutes... so instead we ended up going and BUYING a new phone -the sliver- and a replaceable sim card, so i have no voicemail but i will hopefully see ur missed calls, n i go by the minute, so know what u wanna talk about when u call me (this is also where that time difference becomes important!)! the number is: 011-30-687-208-2123 keep in mind it's across an ocean, so u'll hafta try a few times. after the phone we lounged around up by the pool and watched a model do his photo shoot (apparently in greece ANYONE can model cuz this guy reminded me of a neanderthal)... post photo shoot we took a LONG walk n did a lil window shopping. came back and changed for a swanky dinner - i got to wear my new dress, YAY- and this place was HUGE and trust me, very swank... i felt EXTREMELY out of place. post dinner we went to a greek alfresco bar and hung out n then came back for bed. n that's all folks! we fly out to corfu tomorrow evening, so hopefully i'll be posting again very soon! miss you all, keep leaving me messages!! love you lots xoxox ps (there's no desktop options available on this computer, so i'll attach photos as soon as i can, they're BEAUTIFUL, u'll love them!)
