After checking out Rosario Argentina for a few days we made our way by bus to Buenos Aries only to catch the ferry accross to Uruguay that same night. The ferry was this big speed boat with a cafeteria, gift shop and the WORST music videos I´ve ever seen, (and that means a lot cause I even like country music!)

We arrived in Colonia and had a few fights with bank machines to get money, for some reason they didn´t want to give us any at 10 pm when we still needed to find and check into a hostel for the night. Finally, after walking practically all over town we found a bank that liked us and then we found a hostel, yay! The weird thing about the hostel was that we got there late and it was shared accomodation so we ended up disturbing a 65 year old couple from their sleep an having to share a room...they were not happy campers! The one thing about getting old is that the older you get the eariler you wake up in the morning. So this couple got up at the crack of dawn and the woman proceeded to wrap EVERYTHING she owned in PLASTIC bags!!! So 45 minutes later she finally finished packing this huge suitcase, I suspect half full of plastic, and left the room. So much for sleeping in!

Colonia is the cutest little town. The streets are lined with trees, you will see old fashioned cars putting along the cobblestone streets, horse drawn buggies, and lots of cute little cafes. We hooked up with our friends Gabby and Jo from London and did some jaunting around the town before heading to Punta Del Este.

Punta Del Este...
This place is beautiful! It is literally surrounded by water on 3 sides. We got up to catch an amazing sunrise over the ocean before chilling out by the water and walking around town for the day. At this time of year the place is deserted, it was a challege even for our tour guide Jeff Peters to find an open restaurant. But it was a nice switch from the city, and a perfect place to spend a day relaxing.

Next, we were off to Montevideo. Full of colonial buildings, and beautiful statues Montevideo was another hit. We managed to find a pedestrian street to explore and spent an evening playing euchre at a local restaurant, good times. Overall, Uruguay is a very nice country.

We took the boat back over to Buenos Aries Wednesday and have been here since. We had to take Gabby out for her last night in Argentina so we went to a club Wed night. Clubs here don´t even open until 1:30 in the morning and it is tipical to stay out all night. We managed 3:30 but Gabby and Jo made it till 6..way to go girls. And the men here are SOOOOO forward! They were all dressed in suits and would grab, yell, whistle, and even try and kiss women as they struggled to pass them. Totally different than most of our Canadian boys. I love my polite, respectful Canadian boy! But besides the crazy machismo men, the club was fun, there was some good dancing and we had great company!

The next day was Argentina´s Independence Day, 200 000 people go out to the Plaza de Mayo to celebrate. They have any size of flag imaginable for sale, balloons, horns music etc... It was nice to see a country as patriotic as Canada.

Well thats all for the time being. We are going to spend another 5 days here in Buenos Aries and then head North for a bit. Miss you all!! Amanda and Jeff
