Lunch in SintraLunch in SintraLunch in Sintra

Bill and Gerri enjoy a light lunch in the medieval town on Sintra
This is Tramp, Bill’s bicycle! Bill’s a bit tired this evening, so I’ve decided to take over the evening blog update. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a green (yeah, it ain’t easy being green), aluminum Cannondale, made in the USA. I’ve got 27 gears, and though I may not go fast, I can climb hills carrying nearly 50 pounds of Bill’s stuff -- tent, clothes, bike tools, even the computer this blog is being typed on.. When Gerri named her new white Cannondale Lady Liberty, or Lady for short, it seemed only appropriate for me to be The Tramp, ergo, “Lady and the Tramp.” (I knew you’d like that!) So I was christened.
Today, Bill and I, and Gerri and Lady rode west from Paco De Arcos, Portugal, to Estoril and then north to Ericeria on the Atlantic Coast of Portugal. Our first day of hills. In fact, some really, really steep hills, particularly near Sintra, an ancient Celtic town. Bill and Gerri wanted to walk around the town, so they locked Lady and me in a closet while they looked through shops, at the Palacio National, and even stopped for lunch at a cool café. Or so I’m told -- like I said, I was locked in a closet. Doesn’t seem quite fair, does it? And I don’t mind telling you Bill was a little slow on the uphills. Hopefully, he will get his biking legs in the next day or so and I won’t have to go so slowly.
Tonight, we are camped in Ericeria, next to a surfing school and just across the road from the Atlantic Ocean. If I look really, really hard I can New York from here. Nice breeze blowing; all in all, a beautiful evening. Too lazy to walk into town, Bill and Gerri ate lasagna and pasta at the campground café. No Internet connection here, so guess this won‘t get posted until a later day.
Tomorrow it’s on to Torres Vedras and beyond.
Keep in touch with B and G. They love to read your messages, comments, and e-mails. Anything in English!!!
