After a couple of rainy days, it's nice to see some sun! We just sat through an alarm here at Starbucks but it was "unfounded." Good thing, huh? They seriously have sirens and an intercom system that tells everyone that an alarm has sounded and to stay put, then they come back with the results of the investigation. I had seen armed police and FBI last weekend in various locations as they wrapped up some "terrorist drills." I'm not in Arkansas anymore.

So...can you believe I saw the NY Knicks play the Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden? (Or "the Garden" as we say here in "the city.") It was really quite unbelievable to me! The Bulls were so much more fun to watch than the Knicks I must say, but I rooted for the Knicks cause I was in their house. Bulls won handily in the last half; I think they were just letting the Knicks have some fun in the first half. I sat by some Bulls fans and we all had a great time! A very weird thing that happened was seeing in line for the game, one of the only two people I had talked to while waiting for the ticket line to open that morning. In thousands of people, I saw her again. We both could not get over that! Small world...

Wednesday is matinee day so I got to see two plays! I saw Memphis at the matinee which was wonderful...second or third place so far, and then last night I saw "The House of Blue Leaves." So...Ben Stiller, Edie Falco, Jennifer Jason Leigh, great cast...weirdest play I may have ever seen. Very interesting, about a guy who has a wife with Schizophrenia, named Bananas, and a girlfriend named Bunny, who is just whacko. Comedy, drama? The audience seemed to be expecting a comedy and there was much uncomfortable and at times, inappropriate laughter. I had to temper my intolerance of making fun of mental illness, as Falco was a very funny Schizophrenic at times and was supposed to be, I think. At other times, very sad, of course. I sat by a choreographer from San Francisco who has a place in NY and also Hawaii, and we had fun talking about all I should do in NY. It is fun to meet so many interesting people just sitting next to each other in the theater. Of course the guy I sat next to at "Rock of Ages," with the beer breath and ADHD, who sang the songs and couldn't sing, was not a highlight, but overall I've had pretty good luck!

I haven't taken a cab yet as I live so close to everything and feel totally safe even after the plays, even coming home on the subway from the Garden. I am feeling more comfortable with the entire experience but I still feel giddy and laugh out loud at times! Today I'm headed for CT to see Bethany and the Beaudoins! Bet and I will come back to the city tomorrow and she may be my first company at my little apartment!!

There is an interesting woman here, sitting at a table, telling everyone she likes their hair. That's only since she woke up. In her 60's with a very short skirt, earphones, a bun on top of her head. She just said "Starbucks coffee doesn't stain." I love New York!
