Sitting in Starbucks once again as Amit, my landlord, cannot get an appointment with the cable guys, who apparently are on strike, until the 20th and is trying a different company. But the good news is that there is Starbucks, and for a bottle of water I can sit here as long as I want. I just skyped with Jake for a long time and then read his account of his race which is definitely worth reading if anyone is interested!
So...yesterday I walked around all day, (it was sunny and in the 70's!) from my place at 49th and 9th as far as 67th and Broadway which is Columbus Circle, before meeting Stacey at Letterman at 4. It's quite a well-oiled machine, getting into Letterman, with young, enthusiastic, and good looking pages coordinating all the steps. We had to be back at 5 for a 6:00 taping so we went around the corner to Three Monkeys, to hang out. Seeing the taping was just amazing. The guest was Tina Fey, who, of course, is awesome, and the show will air on Friday night. The only audience schtick was a guy who they sat right in front of us so our laps may be on camera! Incredible energy in the studio and so much fun! We were out at 7; Stacey took the train back to NJ; and I headed to the TKTS booth to get tickets to a play!
I saw "Rock of Ages," which was absolutely wonderful, second only to American Idiot. All the best 80's rock music, phenomenal dancing and voices. I have to say at this point that I sat on the second row/center for Lombardi, the sixth row/center for American Idiot, the fourth row on the left for Billy Elliot, and the 12th row/center for Rock of Ages. Day of the performance, half price, great seats! It doesn't get any better than this!
But the best news of all may be this morning's coup with Reza! I took the subway to Madison Square Garden by 8:30 to try to get tickets for the Knicks/Bulls game tonight which is totally and absolutely sold out. The guy said they release tickets some time during the day if I wanted to check back frequently. Just what I had planned, right? To hang out at MSG or Penn Station all day! So I texted my favorite son-in-law, who has become the ticket master (or mentor as I like to call him to avoid copyright infringements,) to see if he could work any magic! Less than 20 minutes later he had me a prized and coveted Knicks ticket! I found a Staples, he faxed it, and by 10:30, it was done! It's just amazing! And by the way, he estimated the weights of my suitcases within a half a pound! He is a man of many talents so if this dentist thing doesn't work out, he has many options (at the State Fair, for example)! However since they just opened their second office, I guess the dentist thing is working out pretty well!! Thank you, thank you, Reza!!
Now he's working on tickets to the Yankees/Rangers game on Saturday for Stacey, Johnny, and me!
It was misting when I got out of the theater last night as I stopped at the Duane Reed store for Haagan Das, and I just looked up and let it fall on my face! Since I've been in Starbucks, it's started raining again. I continue to feel like I'm in some movie. Don't know what I'll do this afternoon but I'll be at MSG by 6 to see everything possible, and I am still giggling...

Friend of mine told me about an amazing market/restaurant that she recently visited in NYC. Think it was in the flat iron area. Called "Eataly". I'll try to get you more details. She went in to get a sandwich and discovered this market with all kinds of interesting food. The street front was deceptive as the space wandered back into the building. Might want to check it out. Where do I read about Jake's race. Keep blogging.....I love reading about your adventures. You are taking full advantage of your time in the city. Have you seen the flowers on Park avenue? On TV a few weeks ago.
