We started our travels on Monday 28th March 2011 leaving Perth Vineyard Holiday Park, Caversham, WA.
We decided to try some free camping on our first day as our caravan is well set up for us to be self contained, staying at a very nice camping area (Boorabbin Rest Area 68 km E of Southern Cross), everything went well with us learning how to use everything.
The second night we found another campsite, (Woorlba Homestead Rest Area 50km E of Balladonia) not quite as nice as the previouse night but still Ok. Everything went well again but in the morning when John was having a shower we ran out of water - must have not filled the water tanks with enough water - will do better next time. Then after packing up ready for our next day of travel John had the car warming, then all of a sudden it stalled and he could to get it started on petrol, so tried the gas and it started so we headed of as we have not even left WA yet. After trying to get the car started on petrol a few times and failing we decided to carry on and get advice
on the way. We just hoped that we could get gas all the way across the Nullabour.
We arrived at Eucla with advice to take the car to Rod the machanic, which we did, and spent a couple of hours with Rod checking out the car and cleaning a lot of things and coming to the conclusion that it was probably a problem with the fuel pump and he could not fix it but to take the car to the Toyota dealer in Ceduna. So we carried on just hoping that all the petrol stations on the way would have gas. We only had a range of about 180-200 klms for the gas so we headed off with our fingers crossed. Well after a few worrying kilometres we arrived at Ceduna on the fourth day (31st March) safe and sound.
We paid 68.9cents per ltr for gas at Wooroloo, WA and 1.28cents per ltr at Nullabour Road House, SA.
We stayed the 3rd night at the Eucla caravan park which was a very casual park, with the chap at the office saying "just find a spot and hook up" which was quite interesting as it was getting dark and the
park was quite full but we found a spot and settled in for the night, when we got up in the morning the view over the ocean was quite spetacular with lovely fresh water showers to start the day with (after having to wash out of a bucket the night before).
As we travelled from Kalgoorlie over the Nullabour we visited some of the golf greens on the Nullabour Golf links which runs from Kalgoorlie to Ceduna (the longest gold course in the world, 18 holes over 1365 kilometres). Some of these holes were quite difficult to play with trees over the fairway.
We also could not believe how green it was all the way across the Nullabour.

The Scenery
Got to luv the Australian bush, nothing to look at for miles and miles! Just like our trip up here to Coral bay, but the end result is worth it.
