Amazing villages built on and up the cliffs
We have spent a couple of wonderful days in Bordeaux, enjoying the sunshine, the wine, the cheese and the bagettes. No wonder we have to walk a lot otherwise we would be starting to roll around the villages of France! However, I have discovered the wonders of cooking with wine; white wine with the chicken and herbs etc the other night and red wine with the steak last night. It was delicious...We only have to remember to save some for the cooking. We experienced our first thunder storm last night in Bordeaux, along with some showers but today having started with a little drizzle has once more cleared up. We are now into the shorts and Tshirts, however maybe not yet in the evening. We got a free tram ride into Bordeaux, only because we were too thick to see where to buy a ticket and wandered that city for the day. We did pay for the tram ride back! Once again amazing architecture and lots of people. This morning we left for the Dordogne and have visited some amazing medieval villages, these being Beynac et Cazenac which is perched high on a rocky outcrop and we can currently see from our camping ground, and Sarlat, where we bought the regions speciality, pate or anything made with duck as well as more wine. Needless to say we have scoffed the lot. The walk up the steep streets to The Chateau and fort at Beynac was worth the effort and Dean is once more in awe at the stone work from hundreds of years ago that still exists today. It's been a relaxing few days spent in the sunshine and enjoying all of the joys of France that we discover. Daylight saving kicked in here this morning so we are only 11 hours behind until it goes back in NZ next week. As always, love to you all until next time.xxx
