3 day camping trip by 4WD
Currently in Sydney. Flying to Christchurch on sunday. Am actually really sad to leave Oz. At first we kept comparing it to Asia and just thought it was too much like England and full of chav English people...but it has grown on us!
As you can see from the photos have seen lots more beaches and mountains.

We had a fantastic trip to Frazer Island which is just one big sand dune with stunning lakes to swim in. Had a great group of english, dutch, danish, korean and american. The best was Tristan as we kept meeting up with him again and we put his bbq and driving skills to further use.

From Frazer Island he came with us to Noosa. Spent time watching surfers, sunbathing and doing walks along the coast. Decided we wanted to live there. Was lovely....

From Noosa we all headed to Brisbane. Beth stayed with a friend and me an Tristan stayed in the worse hostel ever. Why did they think putting an open air bar and club right next to the windows of the hostel was a good idea???

There were lots of locals in the first lake-full of turtles. We didnt stay in the water long as not sure what else in there!
I was the other side so managed to sleep but poor Tristan got the short straw. He had to spend all night listening to ' lick baby food off the woamn next to you' competition and nasty club tunes!!! Brsbane itself is anice city. We saw the city by water taxi (another addition to our transport list).

From Brisie me and Beth headed to Surfers Paradise. The beach and surfers were ok but spoilt by all the highrise buildings which blocked our sun!!! We were told Byron was just as touristy so skipped it and went to a nearby town of Lennox Head instead. We chilled out here in the tea tree lake and beach. We tried to canoe on the lake. Beth spent the whole time laughing at me as i could only go round in circles...it refused to go straight. felt better when Beth tried my canoe and she had the same problem! Glad it wasnt me and we could blame it on the equipment!!!

Next ...Sydney. We finally got there. We were told we would not like it compared to Melbourne but we actually do. Is sureal

Lake Wobby. Again worried what was in this green water. Saw big, black fish in the bottom once we got out. The guys in our group are in the photo.
walking along the harbour with the bridge on one side and opera house on the other.

When we arrived in Sydeny we got a message from Tristan saying hes just bought a car and would we like a trip to the Blue Mountains to test it out...of course we said. He didnt tell us it would be freezing at night and he only had a thin tent!!!!! Without sleeping bags we pretty much had to put all the clothes we owned on just to survive!!! Was a bit of a shock when we had been sunbathing on Maly beach the day before!!! The Blue Mountains were beautiful and despite warnings by fellow travellers that we may slip off a cliff or get attacked by snakes we are still alive. It was our next stop in the Hunter Valley that was the most dangerous. Putting me and Beth in a famous wine region and booking onto a tour that started at 930 is not a good thing. We are now expert wine buffs...obviously we had to try every variety to make sure we were happy with which ones we liked.

Needless to say liver and kidneys

Lake McKenzie. This is my arty shot. Amazing clear water.
now hurt and need to detox!

Last night out tonight before we fly back to Brisbane. We are tring to mentally prepare to the fact that will no longer be able to sunbathe as will be
winter.

Beth trying to persude me to go skiing there...lets see....

This is the Tea Tree lake. We tried to canoe in it and am glad we dont have photos to show as we were rubbish. Skin felt good after but there is something weird about swimming in a tea. Fely like a tea bag!

The Opera House. We saw a ballet there. Was fantastic!

The rocks in the background are the 3 sisters. According to Tristan the story goes that they were turned to stone to avoid being turned to the sex industry...hmm...Once again Tristan is our driver.

hi Vicks
It's great to see your photos - I feel like I'm learning lots about the world too. Will be good to get your advice about Aussie wines when you get back and I'll be able to drink again! Hope you've escaped fatty liver disease and hypothermia!
