1st week in Spain!

After a total of 26 hours in the sky + 9 hours in stop overs I am finally here. Planned to sleep on the 12 hour flight from Singapore to Frankfurt however two babies on either side decided that we should stay awake- so I will collapse once I get to my new home!! Got seriously ripped off on my first euro purchase ended up paying $7 for a bottle of water because forgot the exchange- as im not in new Zealand any more!!! Thought I better get into the roll of trying new things so tried to read a german newspaper and ate a giant pretzel!! Cant quite bring myself to eat a frankfurter yet though- well see how we go on way back.

I then met my to be family for the next 5 months. They are absolutely amazing and I feel so comfortable with them already. The town + my house is very cute its very old and is in a wine producing region near Barcelona- everybody knows one another and there’s 3 other au pairs in the area.

Went into Barcelona for the afternoon – most amazing city ever! Beautiful architecture and art everywhere! So much to see and do! Am heading into Barcelona tomorrow with the other au pairs so will keep you updated plus add photos.

Other Au pairs from town are so lovely and really looking forward to the year ahead! Theres one from sweeden, finland, Canada and soon to be one from uk- cant wait!Everyone is so friendly Spanish needs a lot of work- but I should hopefully pick it up fast!

First day au pairing passed with no major hickups so I am pleased. The girls are amazing and so much fun- and the family are hands on as well to – so lucky!

Will keep you updated on the next adventures. Sorry about the bad quality of the pictures- has been horrible weather here. Cant wait for summer to come- im writing this while wearing my puffy inside!

Day 5- went into Barcelona today- first beautiful day – cant wait for the summer- the language school is 5 minutes walk from the beach so I know where I will be for the rest of the day. Cant wait to start Spanish school I am spending lots of money in Barcelona shopping! Went shopping with the au pair from Finland- shops in Barcelona are amazing- I restrained myself and only bought a bag but I can see that my au pair salary is not going to last. Especially when my car (yes that’s right I am going to attempt to drive on the right side of the road!) gets back from the mechanics.

All in all having an amzing time here- going out for the first time in Barcelona with the other au pairs tonight and the train doesn't come until 6 30am to go back to our town so we will be clubbing til 6! I hope my feet can handle it!

Sounds like youre having an amazing time! Will be funny trying to remember all the road rules and what the signs mean! Hope you had a great time clubbing- must be so much better than New Zealand haha. Love your jealous cousin Jasmine xx
