Hello everyone, I'd like you to meet the new woman in my life, Rosario.....ain't she a looker!
As we are in Kampong Cham for a while, and our language school is about a mile away, VSO have given us bikes to get about on.....and my-oh-my are they terrible machines! Rosario is a particularly awful piece of mechanical engineering. She has a slightly buckled front wheel, about 3 inches of slack on the chain, the mud guards rub against the tyres, the basket at the front rattles like a maraca, the back parcel shelf is bust, the brakes literally don't work and the pedals squeak like a trapped rat! But, of course I love her!!
Thankfully Cambodia is very flat, as Rosario is a single speed, meaning she has no gears....only my legs...so by the time I come back I'll be in shape and sufficiently trained to get a job as one of those dread-locked, bearded bike couriers that cut-up and then shout at White Van Men whilst hooning it about the centre of London! But as I love my bikes, and Rosario is the best on offer (no full-sus Cannondale I'm afraid!) it is great to be on some
Sight Seeing
Rosario gazing up the Mekong River wheels....and to experience the mental roads......
Sunday is a free day, and by coincidence tomorrow two of my fellow volunteers have their birthday, so the plan is for this arvo is to hire some peddalo's and head out onto the Mekong – should be a blast! Tonight we are heading for some dinner and drinks and hopefully catch a couple of games of the footie.....ah, bliss!
Hope everyone is well and happy....well, if not well and happy, at least drunk and napping!
Big love,
Pete
