May 4th

After spending about 30hours in airplanes and airports, I finally touched down in BKK last night at 11:30. Spent another hour in the airport trying to find my friend arriving from Hanoi.

First impression of Bangkok, its hot! Once you step out of the cool comfort of BKK International, a wave of heat and humidity hit you right in your face. You could alomst grasp the humidity.

Cabbed into the hotel and checked in around 1am local time. Dropped our stuff off and walked to Tha Khao San for a bite to eat. Along our walk, it started to pour which might make the average commuter miserable in Toronto but in BK, it is a blessing in disguise. The rain soaked and cool us off along our walk. We saw a baby elephant on the street, it is about half my height (3feet-ish) and it was using its trunk to shake passerby's hands/body/etc. in hopes of getting a snack.

May 5th.

Decided to go to siam square as planned today. Started off our trip early (8am) which is impressive considering that I didn't get to sleep till 4am the night before.

As we were walking to the ferry gate near the hotel, we were apporached by a security/army person. I was apprehensive at first but he turned out to be really nice. He told us that Siam Square was closed because it was some sort of religious holiday and won't be open till later in the afternoon! That explains why the streets were deserted at that time. He pointed us out to a couple of temples that we could visit in the morning. He even aranged for a tuk-tuk to take us to the places. 50 Bht for 4 places was a really good deal. The tuk-tuk driver waited as we visited the temples.

After the tuk-tuk, the driver tried to drop us off on one of his "friend's"
tour place which we politely declined and took the public ferry down to the sky train and to MBK.

OK I have posted enough, enjoy the pictures.

Hi Stan, I've been meaning to check out your blog but seeing I'm skipping class today I finally have the time. I love your pucs, they're so clear and really interesting. You sure have a real knack for taking photos. I loved reading your report. Keep it up. I wanna know what you see and do coz then I can feel as though I'm on holidays with you. I finish my exams at end of June and unsure what will happen after this but if I'm not working yet I'd love to join you. Have fun and enjoy every moment. *Mwah* Your lil Couz, Tanya
