I will make this short as it is really hard to write. Mom and I got hung up by a week with last minute CG stuff to finish up but hit the road on Wed. night. We all had a great time. The dogs (Abby and Tod) where really happy every morning to get on the road and every evening to get to a new hotel. I think they where just happy to be with us. We arrived in SoCal at 9 PM. All was well. The dogs got along with my brother's dog and there was lots of running around and tails wagging. A few hours after going to sleep Tod, my old yellow lab, woke us up and it was clear something was wrong. My brother and I rushed him to an emergency vet and heard the worst...Tod had flipped his stomach. It is common in big dogs and almost always fatal. It had nothing to do with the drive out just bad luck and old age. I made the hard choice to let him go. Anyone who knows me well knows that Tod was my constant shadow and it has been really hard. Abby seamed a little lost
but with another dog and a pool in the backyard I feel confident she will bounce back fast. I am leaving for South Africa on Friday and I think this trip will be a good distraction. I will be going on a camping safari thru South Africa, Namibia and Botswana for 24 days then on to Italy for 2 weeks, Morocco for a week and Paris for a few days. I will post photos and entries as I can. On a happy note only 3 hours after Tod died my Sister-in-Law's family welcomed a new baby girl into the world. Her name is Faith. Got to love life.

K- Sorry to hear about your loss. It is tough to deal with a death, but like you said...what a blessing to welcome a new life. Just remember the good times with Tod and the wonderful life you provided him. Be good.
