Wow! I can't believe I am actually here. 28 hours of travelling can make a person a little bit loopy but I am pretty much back to normal, or so I think. Thank goodness for all the food, drinks, satellite radio and movies on the plane, it makes the travel a bit more enjoyable.

I've settled into the apartment and made friends with the secuity guards who sit in their little kiosk just right of the apartment (see Mom, no need to worry...) 24 hours a day. I spent yesterday orienting myself to my new 'hood and then I was off to Orchard Road, the main shopping district (of course). First impressions of Singapore:

so green
extremely well-organized
very clean and safe
very diverse
excellent food
cheap and good transit system

Lessons learned so far: do not be on the street in a white t-shirt when the sky opens up and it pours rain and return your metro card for a $1 refund on each trip.

I met a girl from Toronto yesterday, Nicole, who is here on her own as well. So, we have decided to check out the nightime wildlife tour (an actual wildlife tour, not a pub crawl as the name could imply) tonight. It should be fun.

Sorry no photos yet, I will have some up tomorrow.

Go oilers!
