Thursday night we had a bon voyage dinner that slowly turned into a dance party. It led to a late night and was followed by an early morning to catch a train to Naples. The train was hot, but luckily I was able to pass out through most of it. We arrived in the train terminal in Napoli and entered a different world. I have seen my fair share of sketchy situations throughout the city of Cleveland but nothing has compared to what I entered that day. We entered the city, bags in hands that might as well be targets. I thought I may have had something on my face but really it was just the fact that all of the Napoleons were looking for their opportunity to pounce. I wish I was exaggerating. My hostel, which was actually a hotel was nice and provided an oasis for the rough surroundings. I came all the way to Naples and I was going to give it a chance. So after we regrouped, I and three of my friends headed out. As we were sitting at the bus stop to head to the coastline, I had the bright idea to check out the nearby flea market. As I browsed, two men approached me and isolated me. One of the spit on my shoulder as the other whipped me around and started shouting at me. I quickly did as many would do is, just darted out of the situation. The study abroad scoreboard against pick pocketers now stands at 2-0, in my favor. We finally got to the coast and it was truly amazing. We checked out some castles on the shore and it really made up for the bad start for the trip. We went to dinner on the shore and had one of the best dinners of my life. After dinner, we sat near the castle, overlooking the Gulf of Napoli smoking Cuban cigars and living the high life. We did not think it could get any better until fireworks started to go off above us. It was one of my best nights thus far. The next day, we went to where pizza was invented and sampled it thoroughly. We took a vertical train ride up to another castle and it over looked the entire city and Mount Vesuvius. I could not have gotten much better. That night we hit up a Scottish bar that served liters of beer. We had a few guinni (plural of Guinness, feel free to use that Dad). Due to the train strike, which is much more like a senior skip day for conductors, we could not leave till 9 pm Sunday. We spent the day playing cards and doing homework, but were a much needed relaxation from the festivities. I had a lot of fun in Naples but do not plan on returning anytime soon.

PS any word from Priscilla???

Not long. I wrote most of the comment, then had to rely on the translator for proper verb tenses etc. Avete Copito? Let me know. Il vostro zio. Are you playing soccer?
