This weekend me and Johnny took a weekend trip to Berlin. We figured we should see the capital of Germany properly before we leave. There's a bus that goes directly from Dresden, where I live, to Berlin for a really good price. 25 euros for both ways.
One of the first things we did when we got there on Friday was a tour. They have these "Free Tours" in a couple cities around Germany, they're walking tours. They aren't really free, because the tour guide encourages tips, but it was definitely worth it. We saw all of the main sites on our list and learned a lot about the history. Some of the sites included the Brandebnburger Tor, the Reichstag, Museum Island, etc... We saw the site where Hitler's bunker was(/is). Right now its just a parking lot, because they filled the bunker up and sealed it off. But we still got to see the site where it was which was pretty cool. We also saw the monument dedicated to the Jews, its a giant square (about 5 blocks i think) full of giant grey slabs. Our guide told us that it was a very controversial monument, because it's very modern art and a lot of people don't see the relation it has to the Holocaust, and of course it cost a ton. But it was still very interesting to walk through. in the middle the ground is very steep and the grey "walls" are pretty intimidating.
and we ended with a meal in the DDR Museum. Unfortunately, we had really wanted to go into the Reichstag building and get into the glass dome to take pictures, but apparently security has tightened since I have been there the last time and you can't get in without a reservation for the restaurant at the top of the dome. We would have been glad to make a reservation so we asked how- and found out that you have to make reservations 3 weeks in advance! So that didn't work out, but we still saw a ton of the main sites and I got a lot of good pictures.

I wish i had more time to write about everything I saw, but im rushed for time since I'm flying out of dresden early tomorrow! I've taken so many pictures though that I think they speak more for themselves than any of my descriptions could 😊
