28th feb We both got up pretty early and just finished packing and got to the dock early. Once again the ferry was late and whenever we asked how much longer they would always reply 10minutes! We eventually got on the ferry after a tipsy turby longtail boat ride (this time i paid the 20B!!) We arrived back at Pak Bura and Steph minded the bags while i looked for the cheapest and quickest way outta here. The cheapest i could find was leaving right now for 350B each assuming it was a bus taking us straight to Krabi. We then get in a swangi (my lingo for a sawngthaew - remember two rows truck) with a couple from Austria, where the bus outside of town will meet us. The swangi drops us off and we sit there waiting for a while. I then ask the lady how much longer and she tells us 10 minutes. So 20 minutes later a small car arrives and we find out that we all have to fit in with 4 large packs too. Surprisingly the packs all squished into the boot and we squished into the back. Then we find out that this is our transport to Trang. She put these stupid little green stickers on us that we use for price labels at home in the supermarkets and off we go. The driver ended up being a bit nuts and thought that he could drive as fast as speedy gonzales even while it was raining pretty hard outside. The best part was the rope that he had attached to the gear stick to keep it in 5th gear. A smart man, maybe i should have done that in my car when it would slip out of 4th! We arrived in Trang and got a mini van to Krabi arriving about 2km outside of town at a dodgy tourist office where they wanted to charge us 100B to drop us off in town. We straight away told him no way and he then told us in 10mins a minivan will take us for 20B. So we waited to find that it was the same minivan we had just arrived in. So we get in with the 2 Austrians and drive for less then 5 mins to surprise surprise another tourist office. After we gave him the 20B the Austrians tell us not to pay

as he called the company on the phone and he was supposed to drop us off at our destinations. We stood there and argued and he agreed to then drop us off at our destination. We finally arrived at Star Guesthouse and the place definitely has character. It's in a really good location and it's only costing us 75B each for a double. We then set out straight away to explore the food stalls where i had my first very yummy banana shake. I ordered tofu, mixed veggies, cashew nuts and rice and it was unbelievably tasty. I tried Steph's green curry but i didn't like it and i also didn't like the hot and spicy bean thread salad that we shared. I bought a sarong (and actually forgot to bargain so i payed more then i should have!!!). I then got a coconut and choc pancake which again was yummy. Steph got some type of fortune cookie tasting thing rolled in marshmallow and sprinkled with smoked salmon which again was surprisingly...yummy! We then just sat on our balcony listening to the cars drive past with their doosh doosh music drinking wine coolers which i will never buy again as

Kayaking with our guide Krot
it was horrible.

1st mar We got up early to rush and buy a disposable underwater camera, and got some toast on the run to make it for our Kayaking. Our guides name was Krot and he was hilarious. On the way there we passed some bright blue water and some limestone islands scattered throughout it. I even saw a huge lace monitor lizard walking along the side of the road. The houses here all have birds in antique looking cages out the front of their houses too. We then arrive at our destination but have to wait for the tide to come in and after scaring the crap out of Steph with a crab (as you should have now gathered she is easy to scare!!) we set out on our adventure. I was in the back and was responsible for singing, being jolly and motivating Steph as well as steering the Kayak. Steph was sitting in the front and was responsible for sitting in her chair wrong, yelling at me with complaints about her neck and putting a dampener on my spirits!!! (still love ya though matie) We went through some mangroves and got to see some awesome

limestone cliffs and even another lace monitor (Aidan look in your book i gave you to find a picture of a lace monitor!) in the water and more feral monkeys...It was then that we noticed all the other tours that were passing us were actually going in the opposite direction (the directioin of the tide) and then the tide was getting stronger. Before we knew it we had to paddle so hard to move anywhere otherwise we would have been going backwards. It was still cool though. This did however add to Steph's neck pain and therefor her complaining. We did both complain to Krot telling him he was a slave driver but we don't think he knew what we meant. We had a water fight with Krot and i am ashamed to say that i think he beat us even though there were two of us. We got Krot to stop off on the way back to Krabi to show us the rubber tree plantations and it was quite interesting. They cut the bark everyday and collect 3grams of liquid from each tree. For each Kilo they get 40B!!

Once back in town we did some shopping ate lunch at the food stall again and then Carson arrived. We then went to Smoody's Bar (which was really cool) to complete one of my activities on my list (thanks Brad). We all had a smoody special costing us a fortune (thanks again brad!) but it was nice. I just hope the slimy things in the drink was fruit and not a gecko!!! We then went around Krabi to find a place to keep partying but everywhere was shit. We found a place and got a yummy pizza and listened to some Thai men singing American songs like hotel california! Went to bed a bit drunk!

2nd mar We slept in again and decided that we would rent 2 bikes and head out for some sightseeing. We tried to find the cheapest but then i started to freak out knowing that i didn't have the confidence to ride a bike. Carson took me for a spin but i was then confident that i definately didn't have the confidence to do it. I told them to go without me but then the owner said he would take me, thinking it would be on a bike but it ended up being in his AC car. I guess i didn't mind. So we head off, me in the car and the Americani's on their bike to the Tiger Cave Temple and Wat Tham Seua (forest wat). On the way there the driver helps me out with some Thai and shows me the temple we are going to which is on top of a massive hill and he tells me that's its over 1000 steps to get to the top. Crap. Just as we start the climb the monkeys are everywhere (whats new! These monkeys in Asia must be very religious, hanging at all these temples!) and look like they are waiting for us to pay them a toll for climbing their steps. I grab onto steph as i am scared (hehehe) and next thing a bloody monkey jumps on her shoulder. She screamed softly and kind of threw it off her. Glad it wasn't me again! We laughed about it on the way up but in the back of my mind i was concerned about them there on the way down! It ended up taking us 1 hour to reach after 2 bottles of water, many 'getting your breath back' breaks, some very steep and large steps, some with not much room for your feet and 1237 steps. The views from the top were awesome and we even got some free water. We took some cool photos and rested before we had to make our way back down. On the descent our calf muscles started to tighten and whenever we would stop my legs would shake all over. We couldn't help but laugh but we were so buggered. It was only 600meters in height but it was pretty tough. We then went into the forest wat and then the Americani's went to a waterfall while i went back to Krabi. They ended up not being allowed into the waterfall (and on the ride Steph burnt her leg pretty badly on the muffler) so we had dinner and introduced Carson to the food stalls where Steph and i sat down while he explored. He came back with some kind of meat and all the locals were pointing at him. We had a sneaking suspicion that it might have been something gross like lambs balls or intestines!! I had banana and choc pancake which was to die for and we just bought some beers

from a supermarket and sat on the balcony drinking with some sweeds from the packers. I ended up locking myself out of my room, leaving the key in the room. We struggled for ages to get it open and after about 1/2 an hour some guy comes to the rescue and opens it for me. Phew. After playing some music and loud talking a lady in the hostel kept yelling at us to be quite so Carson went to bed while the rest of us went across the road to drink on the pier. Some local thai's then joined us and we jammed away on the pier and it was surprising how much western music they knew, they love The Craberries here!!! They also sung some Thai songs for us which was so unreal.
