LAXLAXLAX

LAX is massive, I stayed right across the road at the hotel, good thing they have double glazing...
Hello! Thanks for the emails, yes I have arrived and have settled in already.

Flight was good from home to LA, stopped off in Auckland for some fush and chups, watched a few movies (go the penguins!) and read a bit, went pretty quick really. Customs at LA was full on and the airport in massive, but got to my hotel pretty easy. Spent the two days just lazing around in the sun by the pool & in the gym. LA has a bit of a funny smell to it, it took a good 10 minutes to fly over the city it is just enormous, and packed in so tight, didn't see to many backyards...

Hit the plane to Calgary on Tuesday morning (feeling particularly crap after staring at the ceiling all night) and made a stop over in Salt Lake City. Awesome. Sat with my head at the window for the whole flight! it is just flat as a flat thing on one side, and then these enormous mountains topped with snow just rise up from nowhere...

Got through Calgary customs easy and was picked up by Muks (M-ooks) and went to cricket training via the house. It is a cute little place with 3 levels, I sleep up top. Met 2 of my housemates so far, been spending to much time at FATS (forth avenue and tenth street) which is our sponsor bar having cricket "meetings" to catch up with the other... maybe tonight.

Cricket team is good, the standard is pretty similar to 2nds at home with a few standout players. Pitches are ok, little slow but good bounce. Heading up to Kelowna in British Columbia on Fri (just another 6 hours sitting on my bum to get there) and should be good fun. Playing 2 x 35 over games, should suit my new "Hussenator" role... Should be match stats and stuff up on the club website, google "cavaliers cricket canada calgary" if you wanna have a look.

Coached my Colts U21 team last night, good young guys with a bit if talent. One kid Danniel (plays in my team the Cavaliers) is an absolute ripper. He is 16 and runs in from about 25 metres and lets it rip! Think J. Reeve's, silky smooth and about 3 yards quicker. Talking up the next world cup for the young fella, apparently he is

the best young talent they have had here.

The city is excellent, living about 15 minute walk to the city centre across the Bow River bridge (in the picture), everything is so new and the place is so clean. There a parks and running/walking tracks everywhere, it's a really well designed and set out city. Haven't been hit by a car (yet), doesn't matter where you cross the road, people will stop for you and give you a friendly wave. Canadians really are as friendly as they say! Started talking like a bloody Canadian already, couple of times caught myself saying 'Yah' instead of 'Yeah'. Bugger.

Been wandering around the city today, in a little cyber-cafe near the Saddle dome on 17th Ave, they call it the red mile because at 8pm tonight there will be a sea of red Flames shirts lining the street with people hanging out of bars and cafes. The Flames are in the Stanley Cup playoffs and everyone is either wearing team colors or have got a flag on their car, window, DOG! Think Smith Street in Melbourne if Collingwood were going for their 5th straight premiership and Buckley had just won his

3rd Brownlow, they are mad.

Come on Vic, what are you doing??? still waiting to hear if she is a beauty or if she looks like her dad... Goodluck!

Anyhoo, gotta go, my hour is almost up and I've run out of Twoonies ($2 coins). Catch you all later, will put up some more photos next week.

Ciao

P.S Go Blues tonight! Pies beat Dons aye, so there really wasn't a winner then....

3rd Grade
G,day mate, good to here from you, glad to see you made it there ok and have settled in well. Just finished reading your new entry in your blog and was a little puzzled by one of your comments and felt compeled to ask you about it. In your entry you said the standard of cricket over there was that of about 2nd grade over here. Was just wondering if that means you will be playing 3rd grade? And one last thing, please try and refraine yourself from using the word "anyhoo" any time in the near future! cheers mate, take it easy. Shep, feezle, pink and bell.
