Benicassim to Benidorm

Thursday 25th November – Thursday 2nd December 2010
Further south to join a camping and caravanning club rally at Alfas del Pi close to Benidorm.
Here we were made very welcome by Peter and Joan the club rally stewards.
This is a relatively new site with excellent facilities which we made good use of throughout – indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and gym plus bar and restaurant.
The first evening we went along to the whist drive where Jack hoped to show off his expertise gained that afternoon during a quick lesson on how to play.
With me winning the men’s highest score and Jack a good second we were lucky to escape with the prizes having been branded card sharps. ( note – me winning again the following Thursday did not dispel this illusion despite Jack on this occasion winning the booby prize ).
Saturday Night was cabaret night with Tom Jones followed by a wheel tappers meets X factor comedian ( you had to be there ) and a Rock and Roll one man band – a good night was had by all especially at 2Euros including raffle ticket and kids go free ! Keep it up Peter !
During the week we spent here we walked into Benidorm twice and enjoyed Stodge – pie, chips and mushy peas and Sunday Lunch with Yorkshires and bisto gravy ! The highlight of our Sunday promenade here was a very passable rendition of pink floyd’s comfortably numb ( just the job eh Geoff ? ) by a guitarist in a beachfront rock bar.
We visited the local market at Alfas – great for fruit and veg and the flea market ( keep yer ‘ands on yer wallets as pickpockets are at it ).
Wednesday night was quiz night but the Morris minors failed to start and Bill and Carole took home the bacon – more of them later…..
On the last day we hired a car and drove into the mountains to visit Guadalest a picturesque hill top village with some very odd museums - Salt and Pepper shakers and miniature worlds
( see pix ) being but two.
We enjoyed our time here and were sad to leave the camaraderie of the rally – thanks Peter and Joan.

End of term
Dear Morrises, Well, only one more get up to go before we break up for XChristmas. it has snowed again in Highburton this moring but we were still able to have our Christmas dinner in party hats, but didn't get to play out after. We had the Christmas perfromances yesterday and they went down very well. Zak was a brilliant Herod and Jake was Gabriel. Everyone did very well and we all missed you. I wonder if you are thinking of us over in sunny Spain whilst we freeze here in Hudders. It was minus 2 as Mrs barstow and I came home after school this evening - and that was at half past 4. Hope you all have a happy christmas and a peaceful new year. Love from Mrs Rutter x
