New couch and side chair....still needs to be covered...cushions sized
I can't believe how fast the week has passed........ But we have accomplished a lot so that the place is ALMOST livable! I need to get the cushions for the couch/chair covered (the stuff on them is just temporary), and the cement work mess needs to be cleaned up--aka we have to repaint the mess left over from the workl--NOT included in the price. My plants went absolutely crazy this past year so I got those weeded and it almost looks good! I want to try to get aNOTHER hibiscus and hope it takes. I think being here early enough will help.

Today the policemen came around asking for donations for "policeman appreciation day", aka $$$ to buy their food and booze for the party. They really are underpaid, no doubt about it. We are NOT invited to the party, however! They were very appreciative for our donation.

Our fan still does not have blades. Any guess as to when it will be??? I thought about asking Gabriel if we could make a deal: bring the blades, you get paid! But I can't do it!

This weekend is the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patron saint of the Americas (also Sue's bday!). Traditionally, a pilgrimage is made to the shrine and here that shrine is about 15 miles south of here in the village of Miraflores. People from the neighboring villages start early on Saturday morning and walk to the shrine and later a Mass is said in her honor. The Senora of Guadalupe is much revered here and is almost more important than God. It has always been one of my favorite stories from my childhood. I haven't decided yet if we will drive there or not as it could be pretty dangerous w/ the people walking.

Also this weekend is another art fair put on by the local Association of the Arts. AND a garage sale......so much to do....

Hope everyone is well and getting my blog........If you get a chance, let me know!

Hasta pronto..................

So here are some preliminary photos of our place taken at night......Hope they come out ok on this!
