Day 2 venice contd.

29 october, today started off on an amusing note, here I was thinking how well i had adjusted to time difference.woke up and tht it b lovely to go for an early morning walk around the streets and canals.I started to get dressed and i woke max who asked what I was doing. it was only 2.30a.m!!
Needless to say I went back to bed and we both set off at 6.15 and walked to the food and fish markets , even they were onLy setting up! it was really interesting to see the different produce an d all the seafood still moving! There was another woman standing watching and she started talking to us.she was an american and writing a book about the slow food movement and wanted to interview me! How funny.it was onLy a short video interview where I had to say where I was from, what food I was brought up eating and who I learned to cook frm
.I felt very famous!! We ended up a long way frm hotel so caught a water bus back to hotel for breakfast (mind u we had already had a great cappucino and wonderful pastry each along the way)! The narrow laneways that meander along the canals, little bridges, shops and cafes are really magical.
Max loves this place. Our little hotel adds to this atmosphere.
It is in a 17 th Cent. 4 storey building, with the ventian family that run it living on the top 2 floors. It is furnished in an old style with red velvet curtains and venetian glass ornaments adorning the old timber sideboards and tableS. It is really charming and eating brekky in the room on our balcony overlooking the canals and gondolas moored below, we r pinching ourselves saying "IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING"
