Tuan Track walk

about 2hrs!

Much better sleep with ear plugs in! The Hume Freeway was reduced to a dull rumble. Took them out at dawn, then the local council had a man on a mower and whipper snipper start up at 8.30am tiding up the green space near (beside in front etc) the caravan park.
Another lazy start to the day, Sue drop by at 9ish to say they were off to Honeyeater Dam for the morning, then Irene drop in to say they were off to Albury. I knew I had two days of blog to catch up with (see pervious entries!) so I decide to spend the morning on a walk and then the arvo back at the cabin doing my homework!
Taun Track in the north section of the Chiltern NP sounded good from the pamphlet I picked up from the info centre on Wednesday. And it takes in the famed Bartley’s Block. The Mugga Ironbark trees with their understory of Chocolate Lily’s, Golden Everlasting, Diggers Speedwell and Cats Claw Grevillea was (is) a delight to see. There were so many chocolate lilies under some spots of dark barked gum it look like an English woodland seen of oaks and blue bells! I think I took longer than the estimated 1 to 1.5 hours what with looking up for birds and then down for orchid and other ground flora. The pictures I tried to take don’t do the landscape I saw any justice. Bartley’s Block was as good as expected with the highlights being, Fuscous Honeyeater, Turquoise Parrot, Red-capped Robin, Sacred Kingfisher and also the echidna that crossed my path on the way back to the car and then the large Tree Goanna up a ironbark annoying a couple of robins.
Another pie (and strudel) for lunch from the lovely Chiltern Bakery finished the days outing, which left the rest for blogging. Finished the day off with a relaxed and friendly BBQ sharing travel new with the other members of HAMBOCA who have come up for the weekend.
