After a mad idea last November. A brief glimpse at a world map to see how far I could get without flying. Months and months of planning, faffing, reading, and deliberating. And about 8 leaving parties. I'm now in Seat 28, Coach 14, on the 14.04 to Paris.

Somehow I managed to get everything done - freelance signed off and posted, tickets bought, songs chosen, and bags packed. And all with time to fit in 4 hours sleep. Following a tearful goodbye with the family, all I have to do now is wait for the wheels to start turning. And then I'll be on my way. To call it a roller-coaster would be a bit of an understatement - excitement, fear, joy, and terror all seem to be pumping through my heart at the same time.

As the doors close, and the train pulls out of the station, so it begins.
Paris. Milan. Imola. Venice. And then south. Until I can't go south anymore...
