Greetings!

As our first unprogrammed day of the entire trip so far, yesterday was filled with thankfully lighter fare than the day prior when we visited Julia’s orphanage. Many of the babies in our group seemed to have a night of fitful sleeping following trips to their respective orphanages. I suspect it was an equally emotional visit for babies and adoptive families alike.

Baby Julia enjoyed trips to a little playroom here in the hotel and to the pool as well. See attached pictures of this. Emma and Joshua continue to do well with her and my parents continue to be a source of tremendous assistance at every level of the process. We are grateful for their involvement. Additionally, we were fortunate to connect with Shannon's parents again by skyping so they could see the Baby one more time. We also got caught up on skyping with the families of Shannon’s sister Jill and Jim’s brother Paul.

As far as the coming day (Tuesday) is concerned, now that we have the official adoption documents from the Zhengzhou Provincial authorities, we will all fly out to the U.S. Consulate city of Guangzhou (formerly known as Canton) tonight and set up shop there for about 8 days. In Guangzhou, we will stay at the famous White Swan Hotel, known widely throughout the American Chinese adoptive community as the hotel in which most everyone stayed for their last week in-country.

It is from there that we will make our trips for her consulate appointments, official medical evaluation, and ultimately take the oath on her behalf so that she may become an American Citizen and obtain a visa for travel to the U.S. to start her life there as an American.

Our trip through China is already at the halfway point.

More to come....

Due to a predictable pre-dip enteric misadventure (poopy diaper), Julia didn't actually get in the water but we will retry this at the next hotel.
