I was up at 5am to catch my train from East Perth at 7 am to Kalgoorlie. Checked my big backpack and then boarded the train. It's a pretty modern train. I ended up having a seat to myself but the train was mostly full. It stops at some small outback towns along the way. I watched one of the movies they had on the screens and fell asleep for a bit but the rest of the time I was just looking out the window at the countryside. I didn't get to see any Kangaroos bouncing through the outback. The train stops in Southern cross so I caught a glimpse at my new home. The town is set back in the trees away from the train stop so I didn't get to see much which means it isn't going to be a very big place!

I arrived into Kalgoorlie at 2pm and it was hot. I decided my best plan was to get to a hostel and see if I could store my bags there for a few hours while I waited for Sarah to finish work. As I was walking into town I met a younger guy sitting on the sidewalk named Anthony who seemed to really want to be my friend haha. But with how heavy my bag was I had to keep moving! On my way I was stopped by two ladies asking me questions about my trip. They were really friendly so I stopped and chatted with them. One was quite a bit older (70's) and the other in her late 30's maybe.

I made it to the hostel after leaving the 2 ladies. But no one was around at the hostel but one of the guests who told me the owner was out at the races for ladies day. So off I went back the way I came hoping to find a hotel or something. As i was crossing the street the two ladies were driving by and stopped. They told me to get in the car and they would show me around while I waited for Sarah haha. So since I was sweating like crazy and not wanting to carry my bag I hopped in! They drove me around town and told me about the races. They were hungry so they took us to McDonald's haha. After that they took me to the Super-pit which is big hole in the ground for the mining industry. It's HUGE! This town reminds me a lot of Fort McMurray but warmer.

We drove around a few other places and then as we got to the big pool in town Sarah called. We met her at the pool and I said bye and a big thank you to the ladies. Such nice ladies! Sometimes you just have to trust in the kindness of stranger! Sarah drove us back to Kambalda which is about 45 minutes away. Just as we got home so did Jason and the kids. Lucinda and Isobel are gorgeous! They've grown up so much since the last time that I saw them. Sarah took me into town after and we grabbed some wine and pizza for dinner.

The next day we were all up early and I went with Sarah to take the girls to day care and then with her to work where I dropped her off and took her car for the day. Since it was so early I came back to the house to relax for a bit. I spent the day just kicking back and watching some tv. Later in the afternoon I decided to hop in the Land rover and see some sights. But when I turned the key nothing was happening. The radio would come on but no engine. I was puzzled. I assumed it was the battery being dead but couldn't explain the radio haha. I called a mechanic to see if he could come boost the car but he wouldn't be able to until 4:30pm and I had to pick up Sarah earlier then that. So I called Sarah at work and told her the bad news.

She got a ride home and Jason picked up the girls. As soon as Sarah got home she remembered something she forgot to tell me. In Australia a lot of their cars have immobilizers. Which means you either have to push a button on your keys or have a thing near the car in order for the engine to start. I didn't push the button hence the car not starting haha. I was so relieved I didn't break her car! I met their friend Naomi who came over after work and got the girls ready for bed.
