Here we are in Amsterdam. Sorry that I haven't been keeping up but in Iceland we were using the hotel's computer so I didn't have time to really work on this. We have taken about 300 photos to date. And I promise to get some of them on the site really soon. I will write about Iceland later.

We are staying at the Hotel Keizerhof here in Amsterdam which was built in the 1600's and is such a wonderful, restful place with a garden and a big sitting room. Mrs. Mary De Vries is our hostess and she has been running the hotel for 52 years.

Yesterday after we arrived, we asked for directions to the local pub (brown cafe) for a dutch beer. When we got to the pub we met some locals and enjoyed Heineken beers and a shot of Ginevere. Then a short walk in the rain and an Italian dinner.

Today we started at the Anne Frank House, saw the Westerkerk (west-side church), and then found a "coffehouse" for a little lunch, then on to the Hemp museum and a visit to Dam Sqauare.

Tonight we hope to take a canal cruise around dusk.

Traveling is such fun!!

Hey!!! I've been to the Ann Frank House, too. Cool. I've also read an outstanding account of her days in hiding that is in the library in Sequim. I'm sure it's still there. You check it out. Also - Michael Pollan wrote a book, "Botany of Desire" in which he details the Hemp Museum. He is clear to point out that the marijuana of today is not the stuff "we" enjoyed as kids back in the 70's. It is now potent like gunpowder, and mostly grown on short stalks inside.
