How are you all doing?
This blog is coming to you from Broome WA. We will say this quietly (we don’t want the locals to get cocky), we love this place, and to be honest we haven’t done a great deal apart from the three ‘S’s………Sunbathing, Swimming, and Strolling on the beach, so unless we start to ramble this shouldn’t take too long.

We were lucky and managed to get a site at Cable Beach Caravan Park which meant just a 5 minute stroll to the 20km stretch of Cable Beach itself, running from Gantheaume Point in the south to Willie Creek Pearl Farm in the north., with a 10km stretch of nudist beach smack bang in the middle.

Now Broome is famous for it’s Camel Rides, but somebody at Council must have had a sense of humour because the only stretch of beach the camels are allowed is the nudist bit, but, tell you guys, the view from up top of one of them camels is educational! We were glad we booked the 30 minute ride, this is a must do in Broome, in fact Debby reckoned it was the best hump she’d had in 5 months…….

Willie Creek Pearl Farm was another of our few excursions. We decided to drive ourselves out to the farm and put the savings into a short helicopter flight. The first thing you notice is, it’s got no doors, so all loose items of clothing are removed prior to take off and we soon found out why. The tour of the farm was informative and funny so in all a great afternoon.
Now everybody knows that Broome is also famous for it’s sunsets, and you can not spend a more pleasant time anywhere than sitting on the beach with a glass of wine and some nibblies watching the sun disappear into the Indian Ocean casting wonderful colours into the early evening sky, especially when a couple of whales pass by.

Unless you’re in Broome, you may not have heard about the phenomenon called ‘Stairway to the Moon’. This little show is performed once a month on a full moon and the best seats are on a little jetty at Town Beach. Shortly after the setting sun has sunk into the Indian Ocean, the full moon rises out, and as it does the light reflects off the rippling waves creating the illusion of a Staircase. The only drawback of this show being that Town Beach is very small and everybody and his dog is there, but it is a great atmosphere with markets and live entertainment.

If you’ve got lots of money and want to spend it, there are no end of trips to do, one we were keen on was the Horizontal Falls, but alas the overnight trip we wanted had a slight boat problem (it had crashed going through the falls) so to relieve our stress we booked a massage and Thai meal at the exclusive Cable Beach Resort and Spa, the day having a happy ending, mango sorbet drizzled with passion fruit….what else????

Well that’s about it, as we mentioned at the beginning the stay has been about resting and taking it easy, though Debby has managed some more retail therapy shortly to be seen in 3 new outfits. All good things come to an end so Wednesday we head south towards Karijini National Park for some different good things, but no TV or internet.

Talk to you again soon.

As usual, stunning photos.........just to make us all very jealous! I take it you both have an all over tan by now with that long stretch of nudist beach to use. Take care and we look forward to your next installment.
