Swiss Air- Kanye West's seat
Business class on Swiss Air to Geneva. I am ducking in the background- 5 minutes later Kanye West got on the plane and took this seat. Hi Everyone! So as I have never "blogged" before, and I am new to this whole blogging world, I wasn't really sure how to start, but I guess the best way is just to give a little background. I wish I started this a few months ago, but I figured I would start now before it's too late and I fall too far behind! Figured I would start off with an about me, then in the upcoming entries do a real quick summary of the places I have been the best year and then keep it current going forward!
I am 26 years old, and I travel internationally with work around 65 % of the time as an auditor for a publicly traded company. I must say its the most exciting job an accountant can get! The job will take me to each country that our company is in for three weeks, and then I go back home to New York, NY for two weeks and then I am back on the road again. I usually travel with around 4-5 people. I graduated Syracuse University in 2006, and since then have worked in the accounting/finance field. I worked in internal
Intercontinental Kiev, Ukraine
Ahhh one of my favorite hotels ever.. Russian President stayed there at the same time as us! audit for another company for 1.5 years, where I travelled domestically before I started my current job, where it is all international travel. In 2005, I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain so I have travelled throughout Europe before, however, I am travelling more extensively now more then ever and loving it! However of course, travelling does have its pros and cons, which I hope to highlight throughout my blog.
I think, and also have learned from experience, that every person has a different travel style, and things that are important to them while theyre on the road and calling their hotel room "home." My travel style and preferences are as follows-
1. The flight- I have a deathly fear of flying. I fly at least three times a month and everytime a plane is taking off or landing I freak out. Start shaking, sweating, biting my cheek, looking around to see if anyone else is nervous, checking to see if the flight attendants are at ease.. its awkward yes. However, as long as im flying internationally I fly business class so the champagne they hand out before take off always helps! Once up in the air, I am
addicted to my kindle, and like to watch a movie and enjoy the in flight meal before sleeping till landing. International flights to me are a time of peace and relaxation. Its those chopper flights I cant stand..
Attached picture see the Swiss Air flight I was most recently on where Kanye West took the seat in front of me- my coworker was taking a picture of the flight before he boarded ( I am ducking in the background). He came on about five minutes later in a polka dot shirt, bowtie and sunglasses and took that seat.. sorry Kanye but I am a taylor swift fan..
2. Hotels- A few requirements, the main being location. I hate nothing more then being outside the city in the middle of nowhere. The closer to the action the better. But, I do value a cozy room. When you live in a hotel room for three weeks straight I need space, comfortable bed (king preferred), wireless internet (essential), free breakfast, laundry service and all the other necessary amenities. I always prefer chain hotels as you sorta know what to expect. I feel that I have become a semi-diva when it comes to hotel service, but thats what happens when you spend more time in one then you do an apartment...
Attached picture of Intercontintal Kiev- one of my favorite hotels ever! Built in 2008, brand new beautiful, huge rooms, rooftop bar, so comfy and wonderful!
3. Good food- I love food and really enjoy good meals. I always like to try the local dishes and tastes. However, I am a pasta/italian food fanatic so if I cant get good pasta somewhere, its the first thing I eat when I get home to NYC. But I really enjoy good food and I have a feeling I will blog about it often..
4. Natural Scenery (preferrably water)- while some people prefer going to museums, churches, cathedrals etc when they travel, I would rather spend a weekend trip where I can lay on the beach or see beautiful nature scenery (i.e. swiss alps, amalfi coast etc). Not that I dont like museums, its just my preference is the nature scenes. Oh and I have a really heavy addiction to getting a tan.. but im starting to get older so I have started to understand why my mom always told me to wear sunscreen... and i wear spf 30 now when i go in the sun! (big step for me)
Swiss Alp photo- most recent trip to Jungfrau, the top of Europe. That is why I love the nature scenes so much!!!
5. Nite life- Regardless of the fears that I have about aging with my skin, I am still young enough to really enjoy the nite life places. I always like to see the nite life, and of course it varies by location (aka nite life in poland where vodka is cheap as water was much better then in morocco a country in which a majority of the people dont drink). As for drinks of choice, I really appreciate good red wines for low key nites and vodka for weekends!
Of course at the end of the day there is no place like home. As much as I love to travel I miss being home, family, friends, living a normal life style, sometimes even staying fit and living a normal routine and oh how I hate the jet lag! But it's a once in a life time experience to travel the way I am so I need to document it somehow and enjoy it to the fullest! No promises, but I hope to keep updating this blog on a regular basis and I hope that it will be interesting to my readers!
(Disclosure- this is my first entry so I am not sure if i posted the pictures correctly, but its 11:47 pm here in Switzerland and I'm getting tired!!!)

Tell me more....
Lea - you're first entry is great! I didn't want it to end because it was interesting and it made me laugh. The scary part is that it made me realize how much you are like me!! Except of course for the night life. I'd rather be in bed by 11 and Im talking about the weekend! Continue to enjoy seeing the world and sharing your experiences. This is great documentation that you could share someday with , dare I say, your bambinos! Be safe always. Love you so much. Mom
