Me
In the hotseat. I was up until 2 am last night studying. I only had enough time to cover the nouns and some adjectives but I didn't get around to doing any of the verbs. Which are pretty important, if you think about it b/c without them, you can't really construct any sentences. :-/
Oh why didn't I start earlier!!
I woke up early, if you count 7.30 as early, and did some more flashcards, had breakfast, and then went to class.
The test was handed out and Marek left us alone in the room to do it. I guess they go by the honor system as well, assuming that we weren't going to cheat. Not that it mattered much; the lowest "grade" we could get was "good".
I don't know how well (good, hahaha) I did. The last part of the written was I had to write at least 15 sentences about my family. 15 doesn't sound like a lot, but when you don't remember any verbs... 15 is a lot.
I ended up with really short sentences that all began with
mam na imię ...
moja siostra ma xx lat.
moja matka ma xx lat.
moja
Marek
Looking... Stern. ojciec ma xx lat.
moja psa ma xx lat.
It was ugly.
Then there came the oral part. Which I had totally forgotten about!
I thought it was going to be that we're prompted with questions and then we have to answer in Polish, but it was more stress inducing than that.
We had to sit in a chair in the middle of the room and do a 5 minute monologue.
ARRRRGH. I can barely pull that off in English!
Marek played rock-paper-sissors with each one of us in turn (going around the room). If we lost, we had to go sit in the chair and do our presentation. If we won, he would play with the next person. Just the r-p-s was stressing me out, let alone the going to the chair part.
I have to say, that was the LONGEST 5 minutes since I have arrived in Krakow.
A lot of dead air, a lot of um, a lot of jestem... and not a lot of anything else.
I was so glad to be out of that chair!
