I am writing in absolute darkness as Allen is at an adoption paperwork meeting and I have one boy sleeping on a bed and another in a crib. We got into a bus at about 9:30 a.m. and drove to a nearby government office. We were told that the children would arrive at different times as some were coming from far away and some were pretty close. Just when they said we had to listen carefully I spotted a man walk in with Jin and set him down. "Jin's here, Jin's here", I shouted to Allen. After that, neither one of us could listen anymore. It was so hard to get to him as they were so many people in between us. The man picked him up again and placed him in my arms. He immediately started wailing, so sad, so hard as Bao didn't cry when we got him, and we hadn't experienced this before. Jin immediately took to Allen and was doing pretty well after Allen brought him into the play area. The man from the orphanage gave us a beautiful photo album of Jin, some of the books back that we had sent, and the disposable cameras we
sent. Bao did not hit Jin! He handed him the lamb, said "There you go" and walked away. Ok, indifference but we will take that. We stayed for about an hour and then came back to the room. They had not cleaned our room yet, so we let the boys run up and down the long hallway on our floor. Jin is huge, almost exactly the same height as Bao but has more of a tummy just as the young women said. It was funny to see them both running. Jin toddler runs but does better at not falling flat on his face like Bao does. Allen had to go to that meeting, which made Jin cry so I brought out some blocks. I quickly realized I had to divide the blocks up but they still were more interested in what the other had. They were especially interested in playing with the music/lights panel in front of the beds. I tried to divide that up for them also but they immediately lunged for the other's side at exactly the same time. I asked Bao to hug him, and quite unfortunately as it turns out, when he did, Jin immediately shoved
him backwards, causing Bao to fall and physically retaliate likewise. The best moment was when Bao tickled Jin on the foot and Jin laughed a little. Jin has not eaten very much except for an entire can of baby puffs. He does not feed himself too well but insists on doing it. Jin did not drink hardly any formula. Bao drank three full bottles. We have named Jin the name Jin Ru. Jin, as you know, is currently his name. It means progress, advance, moving forward, very similar to Bao's middle name. We liked it and feel like he has had it for so long that it would be difficult to change. Ru is a Chinese name we have given him. It means scholar. He is, as we suspected from photos, an extremely curious boy, and was easily distracted from crying by seeing new things and touching new things. So now we have our amazing boy from Vinh Long and our curious boy from Zhengzhou. We are so in love with our boys!
