on the road to Trujillo - 200m down to the rocks and pacific below - 200m plus up the cliff face - pretty nervy!!!Well thought i had better put finger to keyboard....so here goes - we arrived in Peru late and got picked up from airport and shuttled to our accomodation.....nice & easy.....nearly arrived when we saw the streets full of people...i mean full and tthere were police in full riot kit standing around with machine guns and shot guns with full length clear shields......what was happening.....of course....elections!!! So we check in and are standing there 10pm ish and Shonelle was a little nervy....(due to spanish speaking gunmen on the street) and the a series of loud explosings rings out....and again & again......without actually s#$ting herself shonL has a terified look on her face....lucky it was only fireworks!!.......
anyway woke up in the morning and off north to Trujillo via a 8 hour bus....not a crappy Costa Rician bus....but an el shmicko recliner seats the full works.....very nice....Its a pretty cool place so we checked out a bunch of ruins the next day taking two tour a morning & afternoon one....we had a great guide and she spoke comical english....well comical to us anyway....was a good day.
Then it was time to get to the beach....Huanchaco and the main reason i wanted to come

Temple of the sun and temple of the moon...good stories behind them too... up here....surfing. It has a semi point break that bends around into the bay a little bit fat but still a bit of fun.....water is cold.....so we organised a trip up to Chicama another 60kms north....renound as the ´longest point break in the world´.......heard it before right....well.....boy it is long.....it was about a solid 3 foot with the odd 4 foot sets......and it has two points....i was told to go to the fathest one and surf all the way in.......so i did this.....i was out by myself with Shonelle giving encouragement on the beach....i was the only one out here on this point......i caught 10 waves one after the other no paddling back out..just waiting for the next one to come along.....i was now just inside the main point.....i was stuffed....gave up and walked back to the point again......anyway enough crapping on....it is very long.....the longest in the world.......makes a good argument....imagine about 6 times the length of whanga bar from outside to the beach and at least 8 times from the ledge at manu bay to the boat ramp......it is loooooong....by the way it was offshore to.....the photos attached...hopefully.
anyway one more day then back to Lima to greet
