Xinglong and Bapu was another disappointed market, hopelessly lack of dressed hilltribe. The Miao in this area wore knee length plaited skirt with one row of indigo pattern at the bottom. Front apron, no idea what their jacket would-be like as they all wore normal shirt. Hair was shiny gelled and knotted with plastic comb.
Further my market hunt I made a detour into Bijie area, hoping for better luck in Ahshi market. There lived the same Miao like in Bapu but...with a little bit more detail, same...still no sign of any jacket, hair tied with red cotton thread and wrapped up by black turban, same knee length skirt but instead of the kitchen style apron, here they put on the typical Miao style front apron full of stitching patterns.
Together with the pissing weather(perhaps that was why there wasn't that many tribal in the market), bore bore bore...

The scene on the ride into Zhijin was rather pretty, especially around the Zhigaahlu Lake. The valley seem wider, the Karst and Danxia Landform created more dramatic sights. Zhijin was another old city with many temples and old houses, the area is famous for the Zhijin Cave, which boasted one of the most beautiful cave in China(every site in China would claimed to be one of the most whatever). I of course not came here for this one of the most beautiful cave. Zhijin town was torn between old and new, construction works were everywhere, tower buildings loomed up in within old houses, a walking street in typical tourist style cut through the old quarter, it gave a pleasant past-time during the day. Hiding inside the maze like lanes even had couple of old stone bridges over a small river. With a wall of mountain tops surrounded the city, Zhijin looked acceptable enough, and was by far the most appealing place in Bijie district.

"Longchang", hit a 100% replied from the local, but I was one day behind for the market day cycle, I had no choice but visited the market nearby Longchang. Sanjia, Huaqi and then Daping. I really made the effort but...again its failed me. Sanjia and Huaqi market was huge and busy, and I only spotted one...just a single one Miao woman, normal modern shirt and knee length plaited skirt like those in Dafang. Daping market was far smaller on the single street in town. I was staying at Longchang last night, the guesthouse owner woke me up at 06:30 to waited for the market truck as they told me there was no public transportation, unless I want to go by motorbike which I had declined. Yeah...bit too early for the market and I was rather sleepy and tired. Wait and wait but still...nothing turned up. By 10 when I saw a bus ready to departed for Zhijin then I spotted an old woman toddling down the street, dark turban, shabby Han shirt, knee length skirt with plenty embroidery on the top part of the skirt(so far as I had seen the pattern mostly were on the lower part of the skirt), and tied with front apron with column of horizontal lines as pattern. before the bus took me out of the market I saw few more women, old women indeed, dressed the same way, that was it. I really missed my Danzhai trip back few years ago, alot of surprised and costume dressed minorities, but...it was 5 years ago...will it be the same now? Perhaps if I come here 5 year earlier, I could be a happy man...who know???!!!
A break for the world-cup and I could sleep normal for 2 days. I had great expectations for the match of Brazil vs Holland and Germany vs Argentina.
