Rain clouds, but no rain.
It's mid-July here and hot as hell. My a/c is always on so I am usually not aware just how high the temperature is outside until I open the door. Of course, our halls and elevators are not air conditioned so you have the pleasure of feeling the stifling heat immediately once you set foot outside your own apartment.

That said, I don't think the average Nanchang ren uses their a/c anywhere as liberally as I do. But I can't sleep in hot or humid weather, so my a/c goes 24/7 and I sleep under my down quilt as usual no matter how inane or hysterical that concept may be to locals.

I worry more about food poisoning because I have yet to hear about China's health department making rounds like they do in the US, and I've seen people leave their meat out all night then eat it the next day. I wonder how street vendors can keep their lamb skewers and anything else for that matter fresh when all they have are carts and buckets. Wei does not worry and eats heartily: noodles, spicy meats, milky drinks, and squid- blaming his stomachaches on my excessive a/c habit.

Haven't traveled much by rail but I don't intend to after having dropped off someone at the train station the other day. The inside is sweltering hot and the stink of urine literally takes your breath away. I really don't understand why no one thinks it's a big deal to let your kids use any old place to do their business. I guess that's still my no. 1 complaint about China...

Other than the heat and my obsession with cleanliness, life is going on as usual. I realize I sound like I can't stand it here, but that's not the case. My latest food kick is raisin bread- a very simple addiction. 😊 The business is going about as well as could be expected and I'm learning to cook a better variety of things on the hot plate with the available ingredients.

I've never thought about the bbq people not refrigerating their food, but its nothing that a good case of the runs won't take care of. The weather is atrocious here you are right, if not properly hydrated its quite easy to faint. I know this fountain, I think we live close...
