{I accidentally published this with the current title. It was meant to be temporary until I thought of a clever one but... oh well, sorry no clever title today.}

I don't feel like typing a long one but I should write about Huacachina... its atiny tiny oasis in the desert, a cheap short taxi ride from Ica. I took an crappy bus from Puno to Arequipa (don't take Frael buses, they are awful), hung out there for a bit then an overnight bus to Ica. Shared a taxi to Huacachina with a french/irish couple and took a stay in a hostel they had in mind.

We signed up for a dune buggy tour with sand boarding in the surrounding dunes. The dune buggy ride was nuts - like a rollercoaster but no track, less safety and sand dunes. THe boarding was like snowboarding... for other people, because they stood up on the boards. For me it was like sledding because I stayed on my belly or sitting - Im not such an extreme sport person but this was pretty fun. The hills were huge and the sand was allllll the way up my pants.

Spent the rest of the day lounging around the pool, befrieded an israeli traveller (one of the many down there) and found a great place for dinner with a great perk - if you are in Huacachina, check out La Casa de Avinoam, order anything off the menu and you'll be impressed.

Next day a Suyoz bus to Lima (cheap company, pretty good though), here I wait for Sara to come tomorrow!!! Roxana and I are meeting for lunch and she offered to drive me to the airport to pick her up, so thats the next step. From the airport we are going to catch a bus to Pisco - Sara is going to be a trooper so we dnot have to waste any time in Lima.

Hasta luego!

Woah that buggy looks wicked, like a beetle or something. Sandboarding sounds awesome, but I imagine there are no ski-lifts! Hard work walking back up each time, haha!

Mark, I just read all of these. I had gone to your facebook to ask if you'll be in brooklyn in July, because I will be, and then remembered/was reminded that in fact you are entirely not there this month! In any event, I am so glad you're doing this! I love reading about such incredible traveling and it warms my heart and eases my spirit. Whenever they really start selling the rape-x I'll set off on the road too. Maybe shave my head while I'm at it. Keep having a beautiful time, and know that now, I'll be looking forward to your posts!
