Yes, we've finally left the Gold Coast and have officially started the big lap of Oz! We traveled to Tewantin yesterday (Sunshine Coast) and intend to stay here for a few days while we wait for a few accessories for the awning to be made locally.
We made good time and the car coped really well over the Gateway Bridge. Fortunately we managed to lighten our load a fair bit during the time at Miami, finding out what we did and didn't need. We also discovered that the hotplate on the stove was shorting everything out when turned on, so that was replaced before we left.
Some people we met at Miami have also checked into the same site as us, so we had a few drinks with dinner at the camp kitchen last night.
We had some really heavy rain overnight and I discovered at 6.30am that the awning collects lots of water if the angle is too flat! I tried to lower one corner to pour the water off but it was so heavy that I couldn't hold the weight and about 40ltrs of cold water fell on me. Needless to say, I woke the whole site with my yell!!
We also discovered a small leak through the small hatch at the front of the van. Should be an easy fix hopefully.
It's a pretty miserable day today, weatherwise, so we'll probably potter around the van re organising stuff.
