Interesting day.

Wednesday June 9. Drive to Medical Museum in Mobile this morning. Lots of interesting medical artifacts. Some of the amputation saws date back to the civil war. Shudder. For $4 I got a guided tour. What a deal. The museum is housed on the first floor of one of the oldest houses in Mobile, built in 1827. And it's right next to a park, part of the Univ of S AL Children and Women's Hospital, filled with incredible bronze statues. So after the tour, I wander around snapping pics of the art work and the house. Then I drive to the Botanical Gardens. Quiet and soothing. Lots of shade. Yesss. Azalea plants everywhere, but only a few azaleas left. It must be very colorful around April when the blooms are in season. Lots of areas to stroll thru including a fragrance garden and a Japanese Maple garden which are beautiful. Fountains and little waterfalls make it a very peaceful walk. I don't know about you, but I love the sound of water whether it's waves crashing on the beach or small streams trickling over rocks. Close to the gardens sits the Art Museum which is closed by the time I

get there. But the museum architecture and the grounds are beautiful and it overlooks a river so there’s plenty to look at. There is a duck convention going on in the river. So many I can’t count them. A few bronze art pieces dot the landscape near the park.
