We came to Salzburg with EDge to dance.

And, I found some unexpedted things of surprising beauty:

Arriving at the airport and the first thing you see is mountains with hugging ribbon clouds.

Standing by the key hole of the heavy door to the chapel listening to the Franciscan choir practice; hearing their soaring operatic notes swing high.

The smell of the old churches creeping out of a door that is held ajar by an old book.

Hearing someone on the 4th floor in a palazzo apartment practicing their piano whilst they unknowingly hold an audience below in the square.

Purposely getting lost in the old town and using the cathedral dome to find your way back around the old cobbled streets.

Being invited by Susan to SEAD (Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance) - an amazing warm, welcome from our great hosts which sealed future collaborations.

The patterns everywhere, in the cathedral ceilings, church arches, around the windows, in the crystals, on the floors in the squares - rococo, baroque, old, new

The 16thCentury organ being played by the monk who was just practising.

An amazing performance and commitment by EDge

cleanliness everywhere.

pure drinkable Austrian tap water

oh, the cherry ice cream, the nipple cakes and the german sausages.

hearing the russian ballet teacher who lives in france but with a beligium email address speak to a class of 30 from all over the world who spoke at least 5 languages to each other, mostly french, german and english.

most of the students are at least fluent trilinguists.

watching our girls get the moves of the russian teacher who is circus trained. He had total control his body and moved it in absolute slow motion to show the rolls, hand stands, falls and turns. breathtaking.

Hearing those church bells like in The Sound of Music - they're really there.
