Does anyone know where the church is?
Went to Bath over the weekend. It's a city here in the southwest UK that is home to the only natural hot springs in the country. It is a huge tourist site and a beautiful city, tucked away in the rolling green English countryside. So over time this city has been a sacred place to worship and pray. The Romans turned it into a place to also enjoy the hot springs and relax. You can tour the great baths; you can visit the museum about the baths; you can roam all over the city, that is geared towards selling these baths; you can even drink the spring water (for a cost); but can you go into the baths? NO.

In fact, there is only one place in the whole city or surrounding area that is supposed to open to the public if they wish to partake of this natural wonder. But according to the locals it has been setback after setback and it's opening is over a year delayed. Chances of it opening in the two days that we are visiting. Nill. Thats just crap! And poor planning may I add. The hot springs have been here since before Christ,

and nothing. I mean really, we're talking about a country where it rains most of the time and is colder than comfortable for the better part of the year. Why wouldn't you want to take advantage of any opportunity to be warm? I had my swim trunks and everything. All ready to go swimming. What a tease. At least a 'foot soak' or something. I would even settle for a quick steam as you go through the tour. Something. There is over a million litres a day, at 46 degrees Celsius flowing through those baths. All just for looking and none for soaking.

So, we were in Bath with no bathing to be done. What else can one do but be tourists. Shop, eat, drink, take tours, drink, buy postcards for all of you, drink, and oh ya, drink. Met some nice people, had some decent nachos, and stayed in a hostil that had comforters on every bunk bed. Sleep rocks. The buildings are pretty cool and look very Old World. Most of them have shops on the ground floor, with living space on the 2nd and 3rd floors. No taller than that, by regulation. Coincidentally, the tallest building

That's it! Im going in.
in the old part of the town is a theatre. It is also three stories, but has another level to allow for the flyrail system. So if you get the chance to go there, by all means go and enjoy. But dont take your bathing suit unless that place finally opens. But do go and enjoy the people and architecture and history that is Bath.

cheers,
marcus
